d_floormine posted this link up in his LJ and I knew a number of you ould also be interested.

Basically a judge in Indianapolis has put a decree on both parents in a divorce case not to teach/expose their con to Wicca. Both parents are practising Wiccans and the Judge put in the clause by himself. Understandably both of the parents are outraged and are appealing against the decree.

That's appalling. I'm sure it'll be overturned.

It's odd really: on the one hand the U.S. is far more accepting of 'alternative' religions than the UK, but then you get this kind of thing happening just because one Judge harbours a personal dislike for Wicca.

It'll get crushed in the appeal courts. They'll get support from ACLU if they need it. There's no equivalent here that I know of.

Isn't there an important piece of paper or something that says separation of church and state/freedom from religious persecution and so-on?

I don't think any child should be taught any religious creed until they are old enough to decide for themselves.
