Chav Music.....

Part of me has the growing feeling that SKA is becoming the new music of Chavs.

Why? Well The Streets have certainly got a passing nod towards SKA and The Ordinary Boys definetly fall into that category.

So, is SKA to be tarnished with Chavness?

Debate....

I dunno. Ska and ska punk were very much on the upswing a few years ago with bands like Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Goldfinger and so forth, but has kind of calmed down a bit. I really do hope that ska doesn't become associated with neds/chavs. I'm not going to let that happen, I tell you! It'll be a cold, cold day in hell when i give up my Madness, Specials and Operation Ivy records!

NME have dubbed this year the summer of SKA :)

It seems to be making acomeback, but theis is British SKA rather than the US style that No Doubt and LEss than Jake were into

Oh well, NME have said it so it must be true! ;-)

It seems like the past few years must have passed NME by, British ska has been on fine form for a while now, what with Capdown et al doing their thing.

Exactly if the NME did not tell us what was cool and who to hate what would we do!!!!!

*nods* I know SKA has always been ther ebut it is breaking into more mainstream ares, through a lot of different directions I think, not just the Chav set :)
