Glastonbury Weather

Well all the signs are in place for my first ever sunny and dry Glastonbury festival. The two times I've been before have been incredibly mudbaths (1997 & 1998) and really gave the impression of living in a chilled-out refugee camp. 120,000 people knee deep in mud (in places), all looking completely coated and bedraggled but having fun. They were good festivals but I'd like to be able to compare them to a dry event :p

Anyway, the five day forecast (which only takes us to Friday so far - but here's hoping!) shows that on Thursday it'll be 29 Celsius (84F) when I arrive to pitch the tent. On Friday it is cloudier with a much more reason 23 Celsius (73F). I'm actually hoping it stays in the low 20's with a slight breeze as I really don't want it to be too hot at the festival.

Nah, impossible. Glastonbury is one of the holy trinity of rain gods (the others being Wimbledon and BBQs). Of course, Wimbledom started this week so the allignment of the two doesn't bode well.

Of course, your mileage may vary ...

Have a great time there and I hope it's dry but my one and only festival experience started with a bright sunny day and ended with a torrential downpour ...

Yeah, me and my big mouth. Just checked again and it's light rain and showers on Friday/Saturday now :(

At least it's only light and occasional though. Much better than the torrents I had at Glastonbury in '97 AND '98!
