Book Ownership.....

An interesting article from a number of aspects. Firstly for Harry Potter fans and book fans in general, but also for those players of White Wolf games who've been complaining about the 'Pay To Play' scheme they were thinking of enforcing.

It'll get to the point where we can sue each other for friends pages infringing on the copyright of our LiveJournal!

When copyright law is used to stop children from reading or learning about their cultural heritage, it is clear that something has gone wrong.

From experience working in schools I remember that it is against copyright law to copy more than 10 consecutive pages from a book, even for study purposes, without permission from the copyright owner. The idea is that everyone should have a copy of the book to read from. This applies just as much whether the readers are children or not.
