Muslim leaders of African and Arab communities have also issued a fatwa, or religious order, against the riots.

French Violence Hits New Peaks (BBC News Online; Monday 7th November 2005)

Also the first fatality since the rioting started has now occurred. A 61 year old man has died after being in a coma last week. His injuries were sustained by being hit over the head by masked rioters when he went outside his block of flats to check on the bins.

Here's hoping tonight will cool things down a bit, but personally I think this is now going to run for at least another week.

I suspect it's not going to quiet down just yet :(
PARIS - Rioting by French youths spread to 300 towns overnight and a man hurt in the violence died of his wounds, the first fatality in 11 days of unrest that has shocked the country, police said Monday. As urban unrest spread to neighboring Belgium and possibly Germany, the French government faced growing criticism for its inability to stop the violence, despite massive police deployment and continued calls for calm.

Have you got links to this story. I haven't seen anything about it spreading quite so widely as yet and wouldn't mind a read.
