Kate Bush

Right, I know some of you are die-hard Kate Bush fans (Charlotte, Dave - I'm looking at the two of you in particular...).

I have the new CD on order and whilst rummaging around for her back catalogue I seem to only have her best of (I think I must have had some years ago on cassette or am just getting mixed up with seeing Dave's Kate Bush collection around the house before he disappeared up north).

So my question for all of you out there is what order of priority would you put the following albums for me to buy (Play.com have them all for £5.99 each or 2 for £10.99 :)

Hounds of Love
Kick Inside
Sensual World
Never For Ever
Lionheart
Dreaming
Red Shoes

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how they resolve the arguements when they rate them differently :p

When you next down in London btw?

I'll have to try and make it to The Dev sometime when you're down that way. Are you at B-Movie this coming Friday or you playing it safe with the old cash?

it IS a tricky one. Bushy fans have very different opinions on what's the best of the 'Woman's Work'. I think most people would tell you 'Hounds of Love' and I reckon it's her most successful.

My two personal favourites are 1. The Dreaming, closely followed by 2. Never Forever.

If you're looking for dark and spooky, these are the two to go for.
I would not start with Red Shoes though, I think it's her weakest album - a wee bit mainstream for my tastes :-)

Never Forever
Did have some good stuff on it

eg - "Army dreamers", "Babooshka", "Breathing", "Infant kiss" & "The wedding list"

But to agree with dodgyhoodoo - Experiment IV - great song / lyrics

They're £4.99 each at Tower Records in Picadilly Circus at present. Sensual World and Kick Inside are my favourites.

Well as a LONG time Kate fan, I would have to go...
1- Hounds of Love (if only for 'The 9th Wave'- the entire B side is a Dave Gilmore inspired concept album based on drowning... 'Hello Earth' still haunts, "Wake the Witch" is demonic and I have seen professional dancers give up trying to keep up with 'The Jig of Life'; A side includes the sublime Cloudbusting...)
2- The Dreaming (just damn awesome- "Bang goes another kanga on the bonnet, on the hood...')
3- The Sensual World (Kate's use of the Trio Bulgarka still sends shivers down my spine)
4- Kick Inside (Kate just rockin')
5- Never for Ever (some say her darkest album)
6- Lionheart (pure whimsey- I enjoy a lot)
7- Red Shoes (not exactly weak... not exactly great).

As for Experiment IV- is it worth buying The Whole Story just to get that track? I dunno. But I got the soundtrack to 'She's having a baby' to get 'This womans work' orginally...
:)

Sad Kate Bush fan? Me?
