I'm not quite sure how I feel about this.

The UK Foreign Office has just issued a Travel Warning to Brits planning on going to France.

In light of the growing protests and violent clashes seen over there in recent days due to the Employment Law the French government is implementing the Foreign Office has advised to check destinations for planned protests before travelling. They have also warned of disruption to travel due to the possibilkity of general strikes over there.

No British person is to go to France, they may bring back a contagious thing called 'politics' and it may countract our own marvellous apathy.

hehe...I was just talking to Delphine on the phone and said the same thing.

Our government doesn't want us to go over there and discover a thing called 'protest' - and better yet that 'protest' can actually work!

Hmm, we're due to go to Paris on tuesday for the week ... I'm wondering if it'll be ok ... What do your French contacts say Angus?

As long as you don't stray into any areas where marches are taking place you should be perfectly fine. The marches in Paris have also been lragely non-violent (barring a few hundred youths whom police are not sure were actually on the actual march in the first place).
The other thing to note is that there is a General Strike planned in France for this Tuesday so it's worth checking to make sure your travel and accomodation arrangements won't be affected by this. When the French go on General Strike it usually brings the national transport network to a halt.
After Tuesday you shouldn't really need to worry though.
Keep us updated of your travels if you have internet access though :p
Have fun and if you can check out L' Ouef Cube and Starplayer (both great games stores).

Is tuesday universal strike day?

The council workers in derby are out on tuesday so most of the schools are closed.
