Well, I'm glad I flew out when I did. Sounds like it'll take me a while to get back into the country though and I'm gearing up to see a lot of airport ques and lounges on Monday/Tuesday.

Why do things like this happen when I'm out of the UK and have to rely on American news services for information??? BBC - I love you!!!

In other news, GenCon is going well. Still don't have a lot of access to the net so won't be reading my Friends List until I'm back in the UK I reckon.

Hope everyone's doing well and I'd better get off this machine now :p

Night!

It's not affecting flights into the UK.
And... whilst you're checking LJ, just check the BBC news site too :-)

Unfortunately it is affecting flights into the UK, and not only just them. All internal flights here in the States have banned hand luggae and are now suggesting to arrive at least three hours before your flight for extra security checks (they usually ask for an hour for internal flights).

I'll try and catch the BBC site at somepoint today.

Odd, because the bbc says that the security procedures are just affecting outbound and domestic flight passengers only.
That is, people going into an airport expecting to get onto a plane.

For once the BBC seem to wrong :(

Certainly the US TV is full of the delays and security measures taking place over here and I met up with a number of people who flew into the Con yesterday (Thursday) from around the US who've had dreadful delays due to the increased security here.

Yes, but that's just because the US have stepped up their security.
The procedures don't apply to people flying into the UK, on the UK side.
You fly in, you go out of the airport as normal.

You just happen to be in the US, so you'll have tons of delays on the US side.

Look forward to hearing other news!
I've got friday off if you want to have lunch, but I'll pop into the shop and say Hi earlier.

Glad to hear Pie Shop on sale, I beleive I've already paid for 'convention representation'! :-)
Would be interested to know if any of the other traders are selling it.

Could you ask MWP if by any slim chance they have the limited edition copy of Serenity they promised me a loooooong time ago.
Also they were talking about having demo rules for Battlestar Galactica, can you pick me up a copy if that is the case?

Generally say Hi to anyone who knows me (especially Rob at Green Ronin and Derek at Eden)! :-)

If you end up wanting to wait a little while before trying to get back to the U.K., you are more than welcome to take a detour down to Dallas for a visit *twiddles thumbs*

Best of luck with your travels dude. I'm in the same boat here - leave on Sunday back to Kiwiland. Somehow I just know it's going to be lots and lots of *fun*.

Sigh

From a fellow non-video gamer to another . . .
Hi there,

I noticed you are the maintainer of gaming_addicts. I myself am a maintainer for a similar community, socal_geeks, which I started to encourage the open discussion, trade, and gathering of gamers and geeks all over Southern California.

I am wondering if perhaps you would be willing to promote my community in yours, and in exchange I could promote yours in mine. A single post with a link will do, as I do not have a banner or anything prepared for this sort of thing. Such a gesture would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your correspondence!

♥, Dot

Hi Dot!

Thanks for your message and sorry it took a bit of time to reply.

I'm only now catching up on a lot of things that built up whilst I was away!

I'm certainly happy to post a message onto the gaming addicts site to help promote your socal geeks community!

I'll try and get that sorted this evening or over the weekend.

Take care and best wishes, Angus
