Just discovered that Zac Snyder (director of the upcoming '300' movie) is the man at the helm of the long awaited The Watchmen movie adaptation. From what he's saying it sounds like it'll closely follow the original graphic novel too which will be a godsend considering some of the proposed movie adaptations of it over the years. Synder: Watchmen Remains True (SCI FI Wire; Thursday 9th November 2006)

In other comic book/movie news Bryan Singer has said that the next Superman film should be in cinemas in 2009. He has also turned down X-Men 4 but is interested in looking at the Wolverine script when that's completed. Next Superman Flying in 2009 (SCI FI Wire; Friday 10th November 2006)

My thoughts exactly. "So, they're remaining true to the comic, while at the same time doing it as a film rather than as a 12-part TV series of roughly the same length as Deadwood or something?"

Let's ignore as well the fact that every director who directs a film that's even had ever something to do with a comic will spout out that exact line, mainly to placate big comics nerds like, say, me, who might not be as happy with something like Watchmen taken in a bold new direction or whatever they're using as a euphemism for "we're doing it as something which will merchandise better rather than the original idea".

Wow I thought X3 was meant to be the end of that series?
