Addictions and stress...

Today has been really really busy (a bit too busy) day. I have loads to do and so does everyone else here.

So why am writing this? Beacuse I'm not allowing myself to go for a cigarette break which is what I'd usually do right now.

You see, I gave up on Sunday after Dragonmeet (there was no way I was giving up before the Convention!).

Some days are indeed going to be harder than others...

hehe - and you were all big and proud yesterday that you hadn't had a craving.

Just admit that some gum might just help take away the cravings a bit. You've got a pharmacy right next door. Get some nicorette (or equivalent) gum and some sugar free lollies.

Failing that (if you don't want to be heard chewing), get a patch.

There's nothing wrong with admitting to using aids to help beat this addiction - people will be more proud of you giving up than HOW you gave up.

hang on in there honey. I KNOW how hard it is (today especially!)

But... didn't you change boyfriends two months after giving up? ;p

In anycase, I'm "already" a Sex God - so how will things change?!?!

Re: congrats!
I dunno - if you have to smoke outside when you have a cigarette, winter is less appealling to go out in the cold for!

i'm glad to see so many people supporting him on this! :D

Keep up the good work. Come up to Scotland where all the pub are no smoking. Enjoy the smoke free air :)

Good man Angus, I'll be giving up soon as I work in two pubs and after next July when the English smoking ban comes in it'll just make my life easier :)

Some pub chains are pre-empting the ban, f'rinstance most (if not all) new Weatherspoons/No.1 Bars are totally non smoking and they are phasing in total non smoking in the remainder before the July date.

Or at least that's what their "news" magazine claims ;o)

One of the local pubs here (not part of a big chain) has just had a complete refurb and on reopening they enforced a total smoking ban apart from their new patio arrangement. Considering the place used to be jammed almost every night, they are currently operating at something like 30% of their previous capacity.

Mind you the landlord's a t**t anyway :)

I have always been of the opinion that they are nipple substitutes anyway, so, if you want a ciggy....ask for a nipple instead :)

Go for it!
Giving up smoking is probably the hardest thing you will ever do, but it is so worth it.

Smoking makes your hair smell, your breath smell, your clothes and house smell, it costs a lot, and it kills you.

And think of all the extra CDs and DVDs and trips to Leicester you can afford when you arn't buying ciggies :)

Don't give up quitting! I finally quit a couple of years ago now and I'll never ever regret it. The only sure cure is to keep yourself busy with things that don't let you smoke.

For me it was Dynasty Warriors 5. A friend of mine and I rented it and after 4-5 days of playing it I realized I hadn't had a smoke. I tried and it tasted so bad after a few days that I couldn't finish it. I've been smoke free minus one or two since then.

Congratulations! I couldn't possibly comment on your sex-God status ;), but I feel that I can safely predict that six months from now, you will be disusted at the smell of the average pub and will be enumerating the many benefits of quitting to your friends who still smoke.
