Going nowhere, going nowhere

Am having a Friday night in. Part of this is my own choice, part of it is from necessity.

Not entirely happy about either decision but c'est la vie!

Anyway, I ended up throwing on the Gary Jules cover of Mad World (the Tears For Fears song) from Donnie Darko. I remember having quite an emotional day with the song on repeat (apparently Sunday 28th December 2003 - thanks LJ!).

Some of the lyrics are fantastic and still resonate with me:

"All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had"

MAD WORLD (by Roland Orzabal)

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad World
Enlarging your world
Mad World.

So, the weekend. This one is going to be quiet and subdued - again for a few reasons. I have a trip to make into London tomorrow for Coffee and a quick catch-up and the rest of the weekend will probably be spent working on Cubicle 7 stuff and attempting to add a load of old game books to my Ebay Store (Aslan Games Comics & Music). May head into the shop on Sunday to do some stock checks and get some orders and the website ready for Monday - atleast that way it gives me the Wednesday off next week and I might be feelign a lot mroe proactive and chippy by then!

Rather familiar lyrics...

Er, you music choice is delightfully eclectic today: The Bangles and Blue Oyster Cult, eh? Reminded me of my iPod shuffle playing earlier today: Marilyn Manson's Tainted Love followed by Mike Oldfield's Moon Shadow. I'll put it down to hormones.

:D

- didn't like the cover, but I absolutely love the original!
