The New Goth...

So, not goth then?

(Thanks to nemesis_to_go , the NME and a few arguements with people about the new ermerging goth scene that most goths would never have heard of).

Many of the bands are reminiscant of *very* early post-punk/goth bands. Very raw

KASMS - Taxidermy

A.Human - Black Moon

Televised Crimewave - Kids

A Place To Bury Strangers - To Fix The Gash In Your Head

More punk than anything else, via Kaiser Chiefs.

I agree with exmoor_cat - very punk influenced.
But...goth came partly from punk anyway so it makes sense.
They have just ditched the new romantic influences. Its just part of that overall retro phase nearly all the main musical genres are going through.

I liked the 'place to bury strangers' track.

lol-I was about to comment that APTBS sounded very space-rock influenced (*sigh*..yes I used to listen to a lot of Hawkwind) and then I read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Place_to_Bury_Strangers

"The band plays a heavy, atmospheric wall of sound-influenced blend of psychedelic rock, shoegaze and space rock"

As I said to Uncle Nemesis I'm open to any good new music- doesn't matter if they class themselves as goth or not.

Out of that particular bunch A Place to Bury Strangers is, IMHO, far and away the best. Good enough that I've just looked up their tour dates and seen that they're playing the ICA at the beginning of December, so I think I'll go to that.

A.Human- I've heard that song before, possibly on XFM I think. They're good too.

KASMS-Accomplished but just retreading very old ground. And Televised Crimewave...well, the fact that I can't even remember what that song sounded like probably sums them up.

Fifty percent hit rate and a future gig attendance from me- not bad for one LJ post :)

I pretty much second what you've said, right down to the opinion of the bands!

I'd heard of the last one!

Completely coincidentally, without knowing who they were, on a list of weird band names made by an alt.dj.

But still, I'd heard of them...

hmmm...now I remember who APTBS remind me of...World of Twist.
I bought their 12 inch of 'The Storm' when it came out some years ago and then the band disappeared without a trace and I never found the album anywhere. Having said that...now I have the joy of the internet with which to find it.
Oh-I listened to APTBS album. It's very good. Thanks.
