Having time off from work can be an expensive affair. I've been working so much recently - during the week and weekends - that I've not been shopping in London for quite a while. Well, I seem to have made up for that lack of shopping-therapy in the last couple of days. Also having Delphine over has meant quite a bit of eating out at restuarants which I've been treating her too (and Dave and Sarah when they've come out) as none of them has much spare cash atm. Although we've had some fine food - Japanese, Persian, Indian and my mother cooked some Morrocan dishes when we went round on Thursday which was very nice.

HMV was having a big sale when I was there yesterday and my bank balance is certainly a lot smaller this morning. Mind you, I have the following to thank for it and am looking forward to working my way through the lot....

Catch Me If You Can
Once Upon A Time in Mexico
The Pianist
Babylon 5 Season 1
Babylon 5 Season 2
Sexy Beast
Fahrenheit 451
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Millers Crossing
Ichi the Killer (Animated prequel)
Tokyo X Erotica: Sacrament
The 'Beat' Takeshi Trilogy (Violent Cop/Boiling Point/Sonatine)

Also picked Sarah up a ticket for The Mission this Thursday and myself a ticket for Lamb in September. Also want to pick up a Gary Numan ticket for his September show as soon as they become available (and fancy seeing both PJ Harvey and Nick Cave although both shows are bloody expensive).

Todays trip into Camden was a lot cheaper but still saw the purchase of two CDs (Oomph! and Terminal Choice) and three graphic novels (30 Days of Night, Dark Days and The Ultimates Volume 1).

I am knackered. London weather is currently too hot to be walking around all day. Tonight I'm going to have a quiet one in and hopefully watch at least one of the DVDs I brought. Tomorrow Delphine heads back to France at 10am and I've remembered I'm suppossed to work. In two minds about going in tomorrow though (Sundays are flexi-time for me so I can miss them - just means that I don't have a day off during the week - but I've not managed to do that recently anyway resulting in a fair number of 6-day working weeks for me....).

It's been very good having Delphine visiting and I think she's enjoyed it (and Dave, my family, plus assorted others were also glad to see her again). Missing Sarah though as she's off in Amsterdam meeting her mother and brothers for the first time in years. Anyway, this is Angus signing off and heading off for a welcome cool shower.

Have a great weekend folks and for those of you (already) at the Cruxshadows gig tonight - I hope you all enjoy it and have a pint for me!!!

:::hugs:::

Shopping
Ahhhh, I am envious! Your shopping list sounds amazing, and since I am in the middle of the finding-a-new-flat process, I won't have money to spare for a while due to deposit fees and rent. Sniff!

Hope you are well. I'll call you later today, ok?

Re: Shopping
OK I can understand all those DVD's except for "chitty chitty bang bang"! (I blame the heat it was obviously getting to you)

Say Hi to Delph for me - I hope she's doing well. :)

Re: Shopping
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was brought because of an earlier conversation about the 'Child Catcher' character in it. Apart from that I haven't seen it for years anyway and its always a good one to have lying around, especially if anyone with kids comes over (which is doubtful unless its Sashas little girl).

Delphine is already back in France (left Sunday morning) but I'll pass on hello's when I next talk to her.

Take care,

After Babylon 5 seasons 1 & 2 I hope you're leaving time for Seasons 3, 4, and 5 because you won't want to stop :)

But seriously, (randomly long story follows) I had a friend who used to watch B5 when it was originally broadcast on 'regular' TV. Season 5 was moved to a cable channel, and since he didn't have cable he hadn't gotten to see it. After his fiancee broke up with him, he came out for a visit. Since I'd just moved to Houston I didn't really know anyone there or anything to do (and Dear Hubby hated him on sight) so I just popped in the tape (I'd taped the whole series off cable for my own personal use) and we watched the entire 5th season over the course of a weekend. Whew.

Yep, I'll no doubt be getting the later seasons..... especially if I find them in a sale somewhere :-p

Seasons 1 and 2 were in HMV for £29.99 each (down from £59.99 each!) so I saved £60 off RRP. I'm fairly loathe to spend £60 on a box set unless it's something I **REALLY** want and love :)

I buy that kind of stuff used from half.com all the time, and usually get pretty good deals. You might get dinged on the shipping to the U.K. though.
