(Music Video) Zola Jesus "Night"

I saw an article last year in The Guardian about a whole bunch of goth bands in the States whom I'd never heard of before (Cold Cave, Blacklist, Blessure Grave, etc) which I then tracked down and listened to - and have a few of them as regular listened to tracks on my iPod these days.

One of these artists was Zola Jesus, who got quite a write-up in the originally article and apparently has had another feature in The Guardian this weekend (Saturday). She released a new EP earlier this year called "Stridulum" which includes this utterly fantastic track.

Certainly worth giving it a listen if you get a chance...

It's like it's 1986 all over again. Perhaps you might also like some of the mp3s from the bottom of this page.

Some of us are already on the Zola tip!

Her album, or EP, or whatever it is, is also reviewed in 'CDs/Vinyl/Downloads'.

It's funny to see the media falling over itself for such an unequivocally gothic artist - even if she doesn't like to admit it, which is, of course, an unequivocally gothic thing to do in itself.

I think the fact that she's from strange and exotic Wisconsin has helped things along a bit. I suspect there wouldn't be so much interest if she came from boring old Leeds.

The track/beat/whatever that underscores it - that's the end theme from the original Terminator movie - surely?

I like it.

A bit like Siouxsie and the Banshees if they had been signed to 4AD...

I like 'Clay Jars' as well:
