OK. I didn't think I'd really ever say this about a Eurovision track. But WOW - I LOVE THE BULGARIAN ENTRY! Don't get me wrong I enjoyed Lordi last year but the song wasn't ever going to get in my personal Top 100. This song though, called Voda by Elitsa Todorova, is really really good. I love the drumming and atmospheric vocals. I would love this song to win but I don't suppose it will. I think we'll have a return to Europap this year (possibly courtesy of Switzerland God Help Us!).

Anyway, here's the Bulgarian Entry. Let's hope it flies high!

Lenore - Sorry
Israel have decided to enter a track about nuclear war into The Eurovision Song Contest this year. Widely believed to be inspired by Iran's nuclear ambition it'll certainly cause some controversy and a fair amount of press coverage for them.

The song is, er, interesting.

In related news I suddenly found myself not thinking that DJ Bobo's Swiss entry was not actually so bad earlier today. I think it's partially because I've heard it so much recently whilst playing it in bemusement to others that I've grown numb to it's true nature...

That Eurovision Feeling...

With Lordi's brand of Heavy Metal Fantasy surprising everyone (apart from the true believers who knew they'd win) winning the Eurovision Song Contest last year (and also winning me £100 as the bookmakers didn't have a clue on this one and had them at a very nice 10-1 :p) the signs were there that a more diverse range of artists would start appearing to challenge the normal Eurovision faire.

Well, with the news that Morrisey has dropped out of the UK running (damn shame) we'll probably end up with some dire pap representing us again. But what about other countries...?

Well, Switzerland have decided to try and go down the 'alternative' route and dabbled with goth.

Well, I guess what the pop producers feel is goth in anycase.

DJ Bobo and 'Vampires Are Alive' is there entry and it is truly, truly terrible. No really, it is cringeworthy. Luckily they have to go through the semi-finals phase (because the Swiss don't do too well usually) so we may be spared this travesty in the Finals on May 12th.

It has had over 88,000 YouTube views which is scarey!

Thanks (I think?) to [info]raggedy_man for bringing this to my attention.
