Foo Fighters - Everlong (Acoustic)

Old Friend
I was never really into the Foo Fighters until I heard this song round a friends house a few years ago.

Admittedly it was partially "the time, the place, the circumstance" that made this version of the song really strike home but I fell in love with it and will admit it was played several times that evening.

I like the regular version, but the acoustic rendition is my favourite version. The words seem so much more poignant and it really shows the power and quality of the lyrics.

EDIT: I now really want to learn guitar so I can learn this song :)

Old Friend

Hmmm... my Firefox browser doesn't seem to want to let me write any posts in RichText for LJ as the text box for it disappears completely whenever I try to switch it from the HTML section it's been inexplicably defaulted too. I can only access this update page in it's proper format using Internet Explorer (which I kept on the computer but never use anymore - apart from possibly having to use for LJ updates from now on it seems...).

I hope this has nothing to do with the Firefox Update it uploaded earlier today. Grrr... if it is. But hey, not the end of the world and I can still post :)

Anyway, I've been listening to a fair bit of Flobots recently. They are an alternative US hip-hop/rock band with a very strong political message. So if you don't like mixing politics (especially strong socialist politics) and anti-war sentiments with music they are most certainly not the band for you to listen to.

If you do however, and like hip-hop/rock then please feel free to give them a listen...

Unfortunately their 'Rise' song isn't available on YouTube for embedding and only available to be linked directly to so you'll have to follow THIS LINK to watch and listen to that one.

Handlebars however is available on Youtube so here it is...

Whilst I'm at it here is Eminem's "Mosh" which he released a month before the last US Presidencial elections in 2004.

Seems to be the night of political satire in music and film.....

Thanks to [info]wyrdo for this one - GAY BAR (Bush + Blair)

and to [info]ian_wyrdness for this - CHENEY'S GOT A GUN (Cheney - as if that wasn't obvious enough...)

Spent the evening with [info]ukmonty which was very pleasent seeing the old man again - and socially this time as opposed to gaming! Have to try and see him more often (which shouldn't really be 'that' hard as he only lives a few minutes away.....).

Also, if anyone out there in LJland would like to come to the Finchley VUE tomorrow morning to watch Syriana with myself and [info]goldmoonrj it'd be great to see you. We're hitting the early performance (11.30AM start - meet us aound 11.20/25 if you're up for it and preferrably also leave a comment so I know to look out for you!!!)

Junk Baby - Viscous Sydney
Another couple of  bands for you guys to check out:

Gogol Bordello - 'Start Wearing Purple' is their new single, saw the video on MTV2 earlier and found it weird enough to search out :p

Also heard a great song by 'The Organ' but can't find any downloads for them. I know www.amazon.com has snippets of their songs available to listen to so if you're interested I'd head over here. 'Memorize the City' is the track that i think is being released as a single in the UK - now tell me that wouldn't sound at home in a 80's revival goth club!

Mainly for my own reference but I figured there might be one or two others out there with a large vinyl collection that they've wondered about digitising....
