Just waiting for my connection in Charlotte, North Carolina.
First part of my trip here was fine. A bit bumpy and four hours of boredom, but fine.
Now for the next eight hour section to Gatwick. Atleast there'll be movie choices, food and hopefully some reading and sleeping time.
Not due to get back to my flat until after 1pm. About 24 hours door-to-door.
Then... Sleep!
Hello Arizona!
I'll update later if possible but am en route to the Grand Canyon!
Have lots of sunburn due to too much poolside Sunbathing and swimming yesterday. Ouch!
- Location:US, Arizona, Mohave, US Hwy 93
Happy Zombie Jesus Day!!!
No egg shaped chocolate for me today though :( sniff :(
Plans for today (well, as I write this at 6.30am - so they'll probably change in a few hours) include sitting by the pool reading the new Jim Butcher Dresden Files book "Turn Coat" that I picked up yesterday, having a swim in said pool, maybe make use of the hotels gym and sauna and a medieval tournament and feast at the Excalibur later (if we can get tickets).
Spent last night drinking and chatting with Tom and Ollie from Esdevium which was nice.
Anyway, catch you all laters!
Well, I've arrived in one piece!
First flight was full of babies - the one sitting in front decided to throw up it's mummies milk down my trouser leg!
Second cross country flight flew through the big storms that hit the US yesterday. The plane was hit twice by lightning and was like a rollercoaster for over an hour with really bad turbalance!
Have now eaten, slept and eaten. Now in a bar drinking southern comfort and coke and it's only just gone 9.30am! God help me today!!! :p
That is all for now.
I received two job offers/enquiries yesterday.
One UK based, the other meaning I'd be relocated to the States.
I already have my next job sorted but it's very nice to know that I have/had options should anything go wrong.
If the US job had been offered a few months ago though I'd have leapt at it.
I'm on record as wanting to live abroad again at somepoint and the company that was interested is one I'd love to work with.
Anyway, on with the job at hand.
Catch you later LJ!
Britains largest Wargames convention is taking place this Saturday at ExCel in London Docklands.
Leisure Games has a stand down there and I'll also be working the show.
But not for Leisure Games.
I'll be working on the Chessex booth (one of the worlds biggest and best dice manufacturers).
So if you're at the show please drop by both stands and say hi to the LG team and also me and the Chessex boys :)
Today was the first day of my last week working at Leisure Games.
It's going to be an emotional one in many ways. I started helping out there after school and on Saturdays and during holidays back in 1986 and went fulltime in 1990.
Apart from a brief 'gap year' between the summer of 95 to autumn 96 LG has been my employment.
We have a staff meal tomorrow (Tuesday) which will be nice but I'm finding it hard already saying goodbye to regular customers and suppliers. Some I'll see at conventions but many I probably won't ever see again.
My regrets and sadness at leaving the shop (which I really do feel is one of the best game stores on the planet) are eased somewhat by the knowledge that I'm following my dreams and doing something that if I didn't try I'd always be wondering "what if?".
And I always promised myself I'd never wonder that. I'd hate to look back at my life and wonder how it could have been if I'd taken an opportunity that was offered to me, but refused.
I would rather try and fail than not try at all. Especially when I have a lot of faith in what I'm about to try.
Anyway, I may update later but dinner is now being served.
Sorry I've not been posting much recently but i'm currently reliant on my iPhone. When I have my computer and Internet up and running again you can bet I'll be back on a regular basis :)

From todays London Lite (page 4)
A computer programmer who lost his ring finger in a motorbike accident has replaced it with a USB drive.
Jerry Jalava, from Finland, built a prosthetic digit to store files which can be removed and plugged into his computer. He said: "When I'm using the USB, I leave my finger inside the slot and pick it up after I'm ready."
I can't believe I have to be up about 5.30am tomorrow for a convention this weekend.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the convention circuit but I shouldn't see 5.30am from the "waking up" side of things. Especially on a weekend.
Really considering a very early night to give me half a chance of staying awake through tomorrow.

Well, I'm no longer a Londoner.
I'll be back on Sunday night though as I'm going to the old house to take some bits to the dump and check it's all clean. Then it's off to work for my final four weeks.
The new flat I'd massive. I fit all the boxes in my room and still have access to my bed and en suite ;p
Our truck did get held up for 90 mins though as it was stopped and weighed and found to be over it's weight limit. They got fined £1000 and then had to wait to be escorted the final 3 miles. If they'd be further out they'd have needed to get an additional truck to come and redistribute the weight.
This does mean that I now know that I have about a ton of stuff - in the literal sense as well as the figurative.
Anyway, having not eaten since a bacon roll for brekkie I'm now going to go and explore the town/city for something to eat.
Then shower and then very possibly an early night as I kipped for about 2 hours last night on the sofa (my bed was covered in boxes).
Now seeing Role Models at Vue Islington in Angel at 11.40 as Finchley changed their times this morning and it's not on there until 2!
Ps - a lot colder out than I thought it was going to be :(

Gee... Bit nippy in old London Town today isn't it!
Currently on the 43 into Moorgate to check out a possible new games venue. Hope it's good enough to have gotten me out of my nice warm house!
