Venezuela and Colombia's war of words is escalating with the Venezuelan President, Huge Chavez, promising serious consequences if it's found that Colombian security forces were responsible for the kidnapping of a FARC leader, Rodrigo Granda, within Venezula's borders. Colombia has now said that bounty hunters were used after denying claims for the last few weeks. Colombia Paid To Abduct Top Rebel (BBC News Online; Wednesday 12th January 2005)

I wonder how many millions of dollars were wasted on this one? Let alone to mention the destabilizing of a region, hundreds of thousands of civilian lives and casualties, and thousands of combatants lives? All for something that many people claimed never existed in the frist place and that the governments involved have since claimed were based on old and unreliable information. The spin behind all of this has cost the worlds stability and countless people there lives. How will we respond? Well America has already re-elected the main man responsible and no doubt the UK will follow suit later this year and re-elect our own murdering bastard. I sincerely hope both men, and their advisors, one day wake up with the full force of reality of their deeds on their conscience. I also truly hope that Britain brings Blair down this year but I think that's too much to ask for a lethargic and brainwashed population. US Gives Up Search For Iraq WMD (BBC News OnLine; Wednesday 12th January 2005)

Er, sorry, but Busted are not considered credible by any way or means....
"The trio are seen as an alternative to more manufactured artists who are not considered credible musicians because they do not write their own songs or play their own instruments."

Busted are what I refere to as an 'Engineered' band.

Take an existing, small time band, make them look nice & markitable, and use money to propel them to stardom.

They're only young, and in time, if left alone, may have matured into a decnt band, but now they're stuck in the pop trap.

Manufactured or engineered? engineered is better, as it's a real band writing real music. Would you rather the kids listen to busted or s club 7*??

It's not perfect, but it is an improvemnt.

Of coarse, we can always try & get the kids listening to Celtic Frost..

* or whatever the big manufactured pop band is today

One of my good friends boyfriends is in an 'engineered' band which the record company are aiming to be one of the BIG NEW bands of 2005.

He studied music at uni and comes from a more jazz-based background but has been playing with various club artists for years. It'll be interesting to see what happens but in anycase it's been interesting seeing the devlopment, deals, trauama, etc one step removed. It's also been interesting hearing some of the inside gossip as he now knows a number of 'celebs' on first name bases (Dani Minogue, Gareth Gates, etc...:p)
