Old Friend

Hey, I'm still alive!!!

Christ - I didn't realise it's been almost a week since I updated this thing. You can all thank me not having a phone socket in my room for this. We finally got a phone line installed on Monday (same number as in the old flat for those folks that knew it!) but the wireless network and ADSL line isn't coming for another week or so. Until then we're living in a world of cables and extension leads. This equates to having a nice lead running up the stairs and in to whomever's room wants to log on. Not exactly convenient.

Anyhoo - this week's been pretty dull by usual standards. Haven't really done anything (had/have stomach pains which has made me take a little time off work - not sure what's going on there....) but am gearing up for a rollercoaster of weekend activities. Fairly full schedule so hopefully I'll be mended by then.

"So Angus", I hear you say, "what are you doing this weekend?"

Glad you asked. Here's my current schedule and I hope to see some of you at at least one of them over the weekend....

Friday Evening:
Pity the Monsters presents: Video Nasties Monsters That Bite 2 @ The Water Rats, Kings X
DJ Cavey Nik entertaining with live sets from: DEATHBOY, DEVILISH PRESLEY, EARTH LOOP RECALL and FAETAL.

followed by a trip to The Electric Ballroom in Camden.

Saturday afternoon:
Lunch and a movie with Nicole and possible Davey Boy.

Saturday evening:
Rathaus!!! Yay!!!
@ The Water Rats with DJ's Charlie Mouse and Sexbat and a live set from Zombina & The Skeletons.
I am *so* excited by this. It's organised by the same duo behind B-Movie and promises to seriously kick butt. I've also wanted to catch Zombina for a while so double A for me!

Working??? Er, yeah, it's Stock Take day at the shop so I have a full shift on Sunday. After two nights of clubbing and gigging I hope I'm up for it ;-p

I'll try and update again soon.

Take care peeps! xx

The last evening of Full Tilt at the Electric Ballroom is going to be on Friday 19th March. The week after Sin City takes over residency.

And I won't be at FT's last night which is a pisser. I was hoping the 26th would be the last night so I could go and party with everyone at a club that I've been going to for about 13 or 14 years. I was a Catacombs and Feet First regular (over in Manor House and Morning Crescent respectively) for a while before discovering Full Tilt so whilst it wasn't my first ever club. But it was a club that I've had some cracking nights at.

Admittedly it's not been *great* for the last few years and there are other clubs on Fridays that I'd rather go to these days (most notably B-Movie) but the nice thing about FT is I always knew that if I went there I'd know people. It was a club I had no problems going to by myself if no one else was in a clubby mood - I knew that someone I knew would always be there because it was both a central hangout for lots of my friends in London or who came clubbing in London and also I'd been there so bloody long that people became familiar and you ended up chatting away (even if I didn't get to know half their names which is a problem when you aren't really ever introduced to someone ;-p).

Unfortunately March's B-Movie is going to suffer because of my failure to be in the country a week later for the last FT (I'll be away in Vegas on work from Saturday 13th and had been planning a trip to B-Movie the evening before). The last time I'll be able to get to Full Tilt is on the 12th March. I hope there's a good crowd down for it as it could possibly be the last time I bump into a number of other 'regulars' before we all dispearse into the streets of London in search for new haunts. Certainly FT's closure will make some of the other (smaller) Friday night clubs that much busier in future months which is both a good and a bad thing at the same time.

As for Sin City, I might give it a go at somepoint. One of my sisters got a flyer for it a couple of days ago and it sounds like it could be fairly enjoyable on the main dancefloor, although a lot rockier. The ground floor will be rock/popular industrial (Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, White Stripes, etc), first floor sounds like it's staying pretty much the same as it is now (Black Sabbath, Metallica, etc) and the top 'chill-out' room is becoming a Hip-Hop room (Emimen, 50 Cents, Cyprus Hill, Outkast, etc). Actually, the main floor does sound fairly appealing - I wonder if we can persuade the new DJs to throw in a Sisters or Cure record for old times sake?
