Manuskript weren't as good as I'd previously seen them a few years ago. They reminded me of an Eastern Bloc Eurovision entry to be honest. Goth Europop. They got better later in the set but I wasn't too impressed.
All About Eve however were brilliant. Better than when I saw them supporting The Mission a few years ago but not as good as the great Royal Albert Hall gigs of the late 80's. But then they were in their prime in the late 80's. They played a number of new tracks which all sounded pretty good and have made me decide to get the new album when its released. I also decided that some of their songs would sound really good as trip-hop remixes ala Portishead, etc. Doubt I'll ever get the time (or discover the talent) to do it though.
I ended up at The Dev with Sasha, Dave, Liz, Vicky, Ayee (I have no idea how you spell her name, sorry), Rob, Bob, Lawrence, John, Kieren, and a load of others. Some of them have headed to Boom Boom Saloon, others to Sin City, others elsewhere. Me I'm home because of work tomorrow. Sucks to be me doesn't it! :-P
Had a great time tonight and it was good to go for dinner and gig with Sister #1 (Katie) and her boyfriend (Paul). They enjoyed Alll About Eve too.
Also looks like I'll be going to Anti-Christ at the Electric Ballroom on Sunday after Elecktrofest. It's open until 4am and the DJ line and music looks impressive. Got given flyers when I was at The Intrepid Fox earlier. Apparently they might be taking over the Friday night slot from Sin-City in the summer as (surprise!) Sin City isn't doing very well. It'll be odd if they do because it means that DJs such as Belle will be returning to The Ballroom after years of exile and the Ballroom wlll be returning to a much more gothier and industrial feel than it's been for a long, long time. Fingers crossed it happens.
