Old Friend

Paris, Tori, Return of the King

I'm really yearning for Paris atm. Not entriely sure why I'm wanting to be there more now than I usually am but I'm finding myself missing the city, my French friends, the shops, the food and the general Frenchness and beauty of the place. I really have to sort out a trip sooner or later when I get some spare time and some spare cash :-(

I seem also to be listening to a hell of a lot of Tori Amos at present. I've fallen to sleep to her for the last few nights and she's be an incredibly soothing influence on me recently. I love her voice, the meoldies and the lyrics. I have a number of favourite female singers (Beth Gibbons, Shirley Manson, Kate Bush, Bjork, P J Harvey, etc) but Tori keeps rising to the top of the pile. I think it helps that she often reminds me of an old flame (both in looks and memorable songs of the time) but then again that's so long ago that it shouldn't make a difference anymore.

CD-WOW have The Return of the King DVD on special offer at £8.99 including P&P. I knew holding off buying it when it first came out would pay off :-p So if any of you still want a copy I guess now's the time to make that purchase!!!

A different Paris......D&D Movie 2 (arrgggg!!!!)

And now a post about a different Paris..... Paris Hilton.

Thanks to mytholder  for alerting me to the news that Paris Hilton may be taking a lead role in the new Dungeons & Dragons movie. The first film was/is one of the worst films I have ever seen on the cinema, TV, video or any medium you care to mention. Apparently the new film is attracting quite a lot of attention as 'industry' people think that the brand has got a lot of possibilities if handled right (no shit sherlock!). I'm not entirely sure if getting Paris Hilton involved will actually do much for it's credibility but I guess it'll certainly get a load of spotty male teenages putting down their dice to go and see it! Mind you - I guess she might end up doing some of the fanboy conventions ;-p

(OK, gross RPGer stereotyping on my behalf. More roleplayers are probably 30-something computer techs than teenage boys these days ;-p)

(oppps.....there I go again ;-p)

Dark Horizons and Batman Begins

I've been exploring the Dark Horizon website that I mentioned in the last entry and it looks like an excellant source of film/TV news and gossip for those of the more 'cult/sci-fi/horror/bent'. I've already learnt about a posisble sequel to 28 Days Later (which was one of my favourite films a couple of years ago), A Scanner Darkly (from one of my fav authors - Philip K Dick), and Predator 3 amongst other things.

It also directed me to a website dedicated to Batman Begins - the brand new relaunch of the Batman franchise on the silver screen. I already knew about some of the actors involved but they had a much more complete list and it sounds like it should be good (let's face it - it certainly won't be as bad as the last two Batman attempts!).

Batman/Bruce Wayne - Christian Bale

Alfred Pennyworth - Michael Caine

Sgt James Gordon - Gary Oldman

Ra's Al Ghul - Ken Watanabe (from the Last Samurai)

Lucius Foxc - Morgan Freeman

The Scarecrow - Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later)

Henri Ducard - Liam Neeson

Mr Earle (Wayne Enterprises CEO) - Rutger Hauer
