Old Friend

Indian, Dutch, Velvet, Frankenstein

Well, I decided not to work today. Being called in on Saturday and having to go in on Monday ON MY WEEK OFF pushed the decision that I should really have today off regardless of how much I could/should be getting done.

Everyone's still asleep here, although I think I might start shaking bodies to see if people want to head to the pub for Sunday Roast. It seems a long time ago that I made myself a few slices of toast and a bowl of Weetabix :-p

Last night after work Sarah and I headed off for a good Indian meal before heading over to mine to watch the Holland - Sweden Quarter Final. We were originally going to be going to a Dutch pub just off China Town in London but me having to work scuppered that idea. Left to my own devices I would have been supporting Sweden last night but having a Dutch girlfriend sort of changes your perspective (at least if you don't want to be blanked for the rest of the night ;-p). Tight match though with both sides playing well and to be honest either of the teams could have won the game it was so close. Not too keen on some of the Dutch theatrics on occasion though. Anyway, the match went to penalties and Holland beat Sweden to play Portugal in the Semi's next week. Tonight probably sees the Czech Republic beat Denmark, the winner of which plays the in-form Greece.

My prediction - a Czech Republic - Holland final with the Czech's winning.

After the footie Dave, Sarah and myself watched the wonderful 'Blue Velvet' and were then invaded by the drunken Sasha, Daz and Becki stumbling through the door after a nights pubbing and gigging. Dave and I headed off to respective beds (my eyes were hurting due to still wearing old prescription glasses) but the other guys chatted until close to 4am before crashing out.

This morning - well I've been catching up on a few things and also started reading the new draft of Frankenstein Factory that was submitted this week. I can't wait to see this one finally in print....

Shrek 2

Sarah and myself managed to go and see a preview of Shrek 2 this afternoon. I won't say much about it as most of you guys will probably want to catch it anyway and I don't want to spoil things for you.

What I will say is that it's as good as you'd expect it to be. Very enjoyable in fact and as much for adults as for kids with humour aimed at both age groups (some which will go way over the kids heads without being too obvious ;-p).

Puss in Boots is particularly cute at times.....

Overall it's not as good as the first installment - but that's because we know roughly what to expect - but is a very good film in its own right and certainly stands up to the sequel test.

School Report: B+ (Go see it - and stay through at least part of the credits to see the extra scene!!!)
