I *may* decide to go and see the 21:15 screening of DOOM tonight at the VUE Finchley Lido.
If I were to do so is there anyone out there that might fancy coming along?
I'll start this mini-review on a positive note. The first track on the closing credits is a Nine Inch Nails tune. This is good.
Apart from that the actual film has zero point one percent of acting and dialogue. OK, what were we really expecting from a movie based upon a gun-totting video game? Well, I was expecting something a bit better than this. The film gives you nothing new in the slightest and all the old stuff is better represented in many other flicks. It's obviously action based but even the action is not exciting or really that entertaining. You don't get any surprises and jumps are at a real minimum (if at all to be honest). My favourite part in the film is towards the end when they slip briefly into some 'first-person shoot-em-up perspective'. That was reasonably cool, but only really insofar as the rest of the film was, as some friends would no doubt like to say, a bit wank. This isn't the worst film I've seen this year but it's certainly vying for that title.
OK, maybe I am being a bit negative so I'll end the review on a positive note too. The trailer for Underworld: Evolution before the film looked rather cool and I brought a bottle of water instead of coke to drink during the movie.
Says it all really....
