Old Friend

Well that's one way.....

.....to start a three day break.

I've just had the longest sleep for months. I usually work on about 6 hours sleep. Fell asleep at around 1.30/2am last night after reading 'Memoirs of a Geisha' (which has come out at the cinema today so I have to try and finish the book within the next couple of weeks so i can catch the film whilst it's still on!) and, apart from turning off my alarms at 8.30/9am, I slept right through to almost midday! Almost 10 hours of sleep! I can't believe it and certainly hadn't felt that tired!!!

Anyway, I now start three days off. Today, now that I am awake, is a day of work at home. I have some final editting to do and also some clearing up/sorting out of 'Angus junk'. Tonight Sarah is popping over as we've not seen each other this year and the Christmas present she brought me has finally arrived so I can have that. We'll probably watch a dvd and I may either cook or order out for some grub depending on times.

Tomorrow is my 'day of friends' (hopefully). I'm hoping to go for lunch and a movie with one friend and then off to B-Movie in the evening for their "80's Special Night". Be good to see some of you down there too if any of you are free and in London!

Saturday is a rather vague day at present but I'm reckoning it will be a combination of trying to catch anotehr film at the cinema (a load of films have come out this week that I want to see!), some more work and also some computer game playing if I get a chance to set-up my new toy :p

Then back to work for me on Sunday! Can't believe I have a whole THREE days off in a trot. What's gone wrong with me???? :D

Drawn Together

This Mornings Letterbox Collection....

included the following CDs:

The Magic Numbers - The Magic Numbers
Audio Bullys - Generation (featuring the very good 'Shot You Down' sampling Nancy Sinatra)
KanYe West - Late Registration (which includes the absolutely amazing track 'Diamonds From Sierra Leone' amongst others plus has the best front cover of the three CDs delivered today!)

Already played selected tracks from all three albums and enjoyed them all. Of course the real test will come when I play the entire CD. One thing that has apparently surprised a number of people is the diversity of my musical tastes - well the above three are certainly very different types from each other for a start! - but I'm a music fan. There is music from all different genres that I love and I loathe. I may certainly be more 'alternative rock' in dress and style (what style I hear you cry! :p) but when the music is good it don't matter what the music is! :p

(Of course I also have a lot of cheesey/dubious music too so even when the music ain't good I might still like it. There's no accounting for taste I guess! ;p)

(Science) A Leap Into Hyperspace

This weeks 'New Scientist' magazine (#2533 7th January 2006) has a very interesting article on inter-dimensional hyperspace travel. The theory, if correct, would allow a round trip to Mars in under 5 hours and a journey to stars 11 light years away would only take 80 days. If workable this would revolutionize space travel and physics in general.

Today was not the 'work' day I had planned. Largely due to the (ahem) oversleeping of the AM into almost the PM. Not good.

As such (well because the young lady I was going to hopefulyl be a cinema-going and luncheoning with tomorrow can't make it due to job interview) tomorrow will now be largely working and catching up with things. I still intend to try and get to the cinema to see either Jarhead or Brokeback Mountain tomorrow and the other on Saturday. I'm going to leave Memoirs of a Geisha for a week in the hope that I've finished the book by then as I really would prefer not to see the film whilst I'm still reading it!

Tomorrow nights B-Movie is most definetly still on for me. I'm gonna get down to some funky 80's rythmn.... er, something like that anyway. The Water Rats 8pm til 2am with Happy Hour between 8-10pm. Come along! I should hopefully be there for about 8.30/9ish and as most of my regular partners in crime can't make it tomorrow you're appearences will be all the more welcome! And as your appearences are generally really welcome you can be sure I'll be bursting and overflowing with welcomeness tomorrow!!!! :D

This evening I cooked myself a Korma and then watched Finding Nemo when Sarah come over. I saw Nemo at the cinema when it was out and it's a good little fun film.
