Memoirs of a Geisha and old war wounds....

I'd like to hear from anyone who has seen 'Memoirs of a Geisha' the movie but has not read the book. What did you think of it?

I just saw it and they changed so much that it completely threw me. I'm going to leave the film unrated for now until I have time to dwell upon it but the book is just so much better. For all those who read the book I probably wouldn't advise going to see the film with the book in mind. Some key characters are very different and they leave or change SO MUCH that is important in the book.

In other news my foot seems to be playing up big time today. It feels like a ligament that runs up the intep of my left foot partway upto my calf muscle. Haven't got a clue what has caused it (cold weather perhaps?) but it's certainly brought back a lot of memories for me from when i couldn't walk for a couple of months a few years ago when I had my footballing accident :(

It hurts mummy :(

Mind you I have found my crutches so if the worst comes to the worst I can still be mobile - but I think I may pay a visit to my GP or local hospital if it actually gets that bad. For now I can live with pain and limp alot :p

Ze foot....

I have the feeling that my foot problem is probably caused by the sudden change in weather. It has got bitterly cold over here and as I had muscular/tendon problems in my left foot before I guess they are now susceptible to sudden cold changes.

Guess I should just grin and bear it and get used to it.

Suddenly moving to a warmer country in my aging years becomes more agreeable :p

(Meme) 5 Guilty Pleasures......

5 Guily Pleasures......

1. Nutella - I'll start off with this although Alexandre also had this on top of his list. But it is SO true. The bastard also reminded me when he did this meme that I had brought a pot of it the previous day and it was unopened and waiting. Needless to say that within 24 hours it was all gone. Nutella is evil. Those of you who have heard of it will understand. Those of you who have not count your blessings and don't go looking for it.

2. Late night drinking and cuddles - Unfortunately I don't do much (re: any) of this anymore. But maybe one day. It was certainly fun having really close friends of the opposite sex that you could just hand out with, get mildly (re: pretty) drunk with and end up just having a cuddle and chatting nonsense whilst also putting the world to rights. Doing this just reminds me how much I miss certain people.

3. Comics - I'm not sure if I could call myself a comics fan anymore. I still get a couple of titles each month, and still pick up various graphic novels, but it's been a long time since I had a 25-30 titles per month habit. Should really sell alot of my backissues (I literally have thousands in storage). But I love comics and superheroes in general. In another life I would have tried to become a comic book writer. The things I'd have done if I was in control of the X-Men circa #220 (The Fall of the Mutants)!!!!

4. Porn. Not sure if it's so guilty but it's certianly something most people don't talk about much. I'm a fan though.

5. Friends - the American TV series. This may surprise some people but I love it. I own the lot of video and have started picking them up on DVD. I find them very funny and can easily watch them over and over again.

Right, now it's my time to tag 5 people. Sosnesgirl glaelia miramanga angelalyce and mrmarc - the stage is all yours if you haven't already done this one!

The hours roll forever by...

Tonight feels so late, yet it's not even 11pm.

I've also had a more melancholy mood settle over me which isn't making the evening seem any younger.

I miss some very close friends. Wish they were here or I could at least speak to them and know they are well and happy.

May retire for an early night and hope to wake up early and refreshed. Need to wake early tomorrow in anycase as I need a shave before work as I'm starting to go 'viking'. As much as I can - it takes me forever to grow anything resembling a beard. In fact I don't think I've ever had anything that could be remotely considered 'beardy' :p

The shop has some special guests in-store tomorrow (Mr Steve Jackson (US), Phil Masters and Genevieve Cogman with the possibility of someone else making a pitstop between plane flights....) and I want/need to be there. Plus I had a luncheon date planned.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow then. I think I'm going to have a very quiet one this weekend (especially if my foot carries on playing up). Would be good I guess as I have plenty of work to do and if I can't get motivated then I have plenty of movies/tv serials on dvd to watch that I haven't seen yet. Plus a weekend in will save me some money for my Vegas/Hollywood trip and also for some publishing.

Night night LJ-land. May your dreams be sweet...
