Night Time Update...

Had a really good evening tonight with Mr Dominic - my partner in crime at Cubicle 7 Ent. Lots of planning was made and ideas bounced about. All good stuff - and what was even better was the background music was a Fields of the Nephilim DVD I threw on after chatting about a Guardian article Dom read last weekend that mentioned them. The Neph are brilliant and are one of the bands that I've enjoyed for 20 odd years now and still seem really fresh and can take me away and loose me in their music.

In other news I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning at 11am. They're drilling tomorrow but I reckon it'll only be a filling and nothing more sinister (or expensive) as the pain has completely gone since they put the temporary dressing on last week. This is good for both me mentally and physically and financially. Especially financially.

The rest of the day will be me working at home (hopefully working anyway - it's been so long since I had a filling I can't remember what the after effects are like but I'm sure it's not at all as bad as part of my mind thinks it could be! :p) and clearing up a load more Cubicle 7 and Dragonmeet emails and tasks. I also really need to get myself a new mobile as my one (which itself is an old backup) is really on its last legs. I'm having a terrible time trying to text at present.

Anyway, night night from me. Sweet dreams dear European readers and hope the rest of the day goes well for you for my American and Australasian ones!!!  xx

PS - Another task for me tomorrow is to write up a Reading Festival overview. I've read a couple of friends overviews and also several Infest ones and these just remind me to get my act together and post mine thoughts. Till tomorrow!

Dentist Update

Well, I can honestly say that was almost a pleasureable experience considering the hype and fear I'd managed to build up about injections in the mouth, etc.

This morning I returned to the dentists and had the first filling since I was about 16. Luckily the dentist was very considerate and numbed the side of my mouth up with gel before sticking me with the needle (due to my stupid phobia of needles). I will admit that I did shut my eyes so I wouldn't have to see the needle coming my way but I can honestly say that the gel did the trick as I really didn't feel anything apart from the slightest of touches and a little bit of pressure.

The actual drilling/cleaning/filling also went very smoothly and it was probably the best dentist visit (where I've needed treatment) that I've ever had.

Well done to Nick and Katrina of the Cavendish House Practive in East Finhley. I'd certainly reccommend the place :)

Anyway, one small set-back is that I'm not actually allowed to eat for a few hours while my filling solidifies. This is unfortunate as I didn't have any breakfast due to nerves so am now looking at not being able to have anything apart from liquids until about 4pm. I'm already hungry...

I've also stocked up on pain killers and numbing gels for when I get feeling back in my face again. Just in case...

Still, small price to pay

Hopefully a number of Reading updates to come later but I've got some work to do now. Bye!

Humbrol/Airfix Go Bust

Modellers of the world despair  - Last Year's Model: Airfix Goes Bust (Guardian Online; Thursday 31st August 2006)

I remember attempting* to do Airfix models as a young kid. You know, back in the day before Videos, Computers and Gaming Consoles.

God, I feel aged :p

*Attempting is the word. I've always been crap at modelling and painting. A friend across the road from me as a kid and his father were big Airfix fans and tried to show me how to do it. I could (more or less) get the damn model together but never let me near the paints...
