(Music) Advanced Electronics Vol 5

A German compilation of thumping Industrial arrived on my doormat this morning (along with Hocico's "Sangre Hitviente" which I've not listened to as yet). Now after yesterday's rather poor electronica compilation (actually it did have some decent remixes on in the end - it just started out badly) I was a little nervous.

Foolish child that I am.

Now the set is actually two CD's containing 17 tracks each and a DVD with a further 19 videos of songs which aren't repeated from the CDs. Admittedly I've only watched part of the DVD so far but it is f**king brilliant so I have very high hopes for the actual compilation CDs in the set.

There is music I am already familiar with (Skinny Puppy, Front 242, In Strict Confidence, MESH, etc) but there is also a bunch of bands I've not heard before (or atleast I wasn't aware of them by name). The Retosic sounded very good, and I quite enjoyed bot KiEw and IAMX too.

I am into an incredibly wide range of music but have to admit that Industrial/Techno/Trance is still my music of preference even after all this time :)

EDIT: Ok, the DVD isn't *all* great. There are some really cheesey Europoppy and 80's sounding tracks on there too. I guess they tricked me by putting all the heavier stuff at the start :p
Old Friend

(Gig) Vileevils

Off to my first gig of 2007 in an hour or so. Mr David Young is joining me and hitting Camden Town's Underworld to see the Vileevils.

The Vileevils are basically what was Pop Will Eat Itself but without Clint Mansell. I've no idea if they'll be playing any old Poppies tracks as they have their own material they've developed over the last couple of years. I don't mind in either case (alright I lie - I'd love them to play some old Poppies tunes!!!) as I'm sure it'll be a cracking night out.

Catch you all laters!
