East Finchley Phoenix - Tales From Earthsea - Monday 27th August 11AM!

A bit last minute for this one as I only spotted it was on last night on the way back from the pub.

The East Finchley Phoenix is showing the Studio Ghibli production of Tales From Earthsea this week at 11am only! As tomorrow (Monday) is a bank holiday I'm going to try and catch that showing. The other bonus is that tickets are only £3!!!

I love art house cinemas :)

Anyway, I know most people probably won't catch this until it's too late (being that many people don't check LJ at weekends...) but if anyone is up for joining me it's be great to have you along! I'm aiming at meeting up with anyone at about 10.45am outside the cinema.

Tales from Earthsea (PG) 1hr 55mins. Japan 2007. In English.

From Studio Ghibli, the team that brought you SPIRITED AWAY and HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE, comes TALES FROM EATHSEA, which marks the directorial debut of Goro Miyazaki, son of the legendary Hayao Miyazaki. Based on the unique series of books by Ursula Le Guin, this enchanting story takes place in a fantasy world of dragons and wizards. A ship is being tossed by a raging sea and two dragons appear from the storm clouds, only to devour each other. This is seen to be a terrible omen that the balance of the world is collapsing. The wizard Sparrowhawk sets out on a quest to find the source of the evil forces that are shaking the world.

Oh dear... a fishy tale...

I feared this would be the case when I was caught offguard and slightly worse for wear at the GenCon Aftershow 'Dead Dog' party.

robin_d_laws was luring people away from the crowd and asking them "If you were a fish what kind of fish would you be?" whilst filming them. He has started posting the responses up on his LJ. First up is the wonderful Michelle Nephew from Atlas Games.

He may, of course, not use mine but I will live with the fear until the series ends or my humiliation is complete. I should really have been more on guard but I was told Robin wanted to ask me a question in the quiet area of the party and had no idea what he wanted or what to expect. Needless to say I wasn't prepared for a fish conversation :p

Atleast I didn't go for the most common reply apparently and 'hopefully' my reasoning made sense :p
