I first heard this song a few weeks ago and have been meaning to share it with you guys and gals since then.
I was instantly taken by it and am going to have to track down more of their stuff and also try and catch them live. I know they are playing three supporting dates in London in October (for Hadouken! at the Astoria - which is another band on my 'to see' list - and Les Savy fav at La Scala) so if they coincide with me actually being in London in October and not clashing with with other stuff (October is a busy month this year) I may get my wish.
Anyway, Late Of The Pier are another band with a very 80's throw back sound. Unlike White Rose Movement, Shiny Toy Guns, et al, they nod less to the New Romantic style and more to a darker style.
Very tired. Had a very long day and between eye ache (I've decided to sod the finances and pick up atleast one of the new pairs of glasses tomorrow - I have enough in the bank to cover it and it's only a few days until I get paid again), tooth ache (Have to make an appointment with dentist next week as there is obviously something amiss in there despite me coming up fine in my last checkup at the beginning of August), hard shoes (wore my posh shoes for a business meeting all afternoon and they cut into my feet as I've only ever worn them about twice so they are not "broken in") and an afternoon of meetings have left me exhausted and wanting sleep.
Meetings this afternoon went very well. Actually found myself a lot more nervous about this second meeting than I did at the first (and Dom agreed with this too). I think it's because when we had the initial meeting we expected nothing to really come of it. The fact that we met with Mr Big and his right hand man and actually had a meeting that lasted 1.30hr to 2hrs and that it went so very well put us under a lot mroe pressure and expectation this time round. We shouldn't have actually worried though as Meeting #2 went very well too. Pretty much confirmed a number of things and just really have one point to clarify which involves geography. All being well we will have this wrapped up in the next 4-6 weeks and will have a nice announcement to make at Dragonmeet that will surprise/delight a lot of people. Who knows, we amy even have some demo games ready to play by then too as our "Man" has been busy writing away since the first meeting on the presumption that we were pretty much 'Green Lit' then :p
Still, not counting our chickens until ink has dried. Plus still ahve the geography angle to sort out.
Post-meeting Dom, Chris and myself found ourselves in Notting Hill for food and discussions about a variety of things. Cubicle 7's future plans, licensing deals, branding, Dragonmeet, and a whole host of other things. The next few years are going to be very interesting in a whole variety of ways :p
Anyway, home now and having an early night to rest my head and eyes. Speak to you all tomorrow! Night folks x
PS - Saw Heroes Season 2 Episode 1 and really enjoyed it. Both old and new characters shown so far have interesting plot points which have potential. Should really at somepoint do a Heroes post for people who have seen all of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2 to talk about it in the comments to avoid spoliers for those who haven't watched them all as yet. The Premier of Bionic Woman shows in the US this evening so will watch that in the next few days (along with the first two episodes of Sarah Jane Adventures which will hopefully arrive tomorrow or Friday) . The Bionic Woman stars Michelle Ryan who played Zoe Slater in Eastenders for years. Andy, Dom and myself saw an extended trailer/interview with her before Stardust at the cinema on the States and the show looks like it could be pretty fun. I hope so as it'd be nice to see a young British actress do well in the States as well as having another successful 'genre' show on telly.
