UK Conventions 2009...Details wanted

I'm looking at the UK convention calendar for next year and was wondering if anyone knew when Conpulsion 2009 is taking place in Edinburgh? Their site is 'coming soon' but I kind of need to know dates within the next week to avoid clashes and get it in the old diary.

Also, does anyone know the dates for GaelCon in Ireland or IndieCon 09?

NewScientist Looks at the Future of Science Fiction...

The New Scientist have interviewed six sci-fi authors about their thoughts on the future of science fiction. I've not read the article as yet (only got the email notification about it and am at work - maybe at lunch though...) but the authors interviewed are Margaret Atwood, Stephen Baxter, William Gibson, Ursula La Guin, Kim Stanley Robinson and Nick Sagan.

Japanese RPGs

In between work today we seem to be having plenty of discussions about Japanese games - both card/board games and RPGs.

actualsean  picked up a number of Japanese card games when we were over in Essen a few weeks ago and has been chatting to the designers and people at the show about them since he returned. I then pointed him towards Andy (zigguratbuilder ) Kitkowski's LJ as he's over in Japan and has been round some of the RPG offices and chatting about some of the RPGs he's picked up there.

Dave (from the shop but no LJ ... yet) has been very bouncing over the Japanese RPG scene now he's read some of what's out there.

Plus Maid RPG (which is one of Andy's translations) arrived in the store this week and has been selling very well so far. Could this be a little Japanese invasion beginning?
