Three things that have made me happy this evening:
1. Watched the first season (6 Episodes) of Primeval.
I caught the first couple of episodes on TV when they first aired a few years ago but never saw the whole season. A few weeks ago I picked up the Season 1 + 2 Box set in a sale and finally got round to watching the first two discs tonight (Having been on a Lost and a Scrubs DVD kick for most of January). The show got some criticism from some quarters when it was shown but I have to admit I actually really like it.
Ok, time travel, portals into the past/futrue, dinosaurs (courtesy of the team behind programmes such as 'Walking with Dinosaurs') are up my street so it had a head start. But I really enjoyed the show from the acting, the special effects and the story lines. I'm looking forward to watching Season 2 later this week.
2. Realisation that my TV/DVD combo is also a CD Player.
I brought a new small (15" I think) flatscreen DVD/CD Player a couple of weeks ago for my home office. It sits nicely to the right of my desk on some shelves and keeps me company whilst I write, reply to emals or generally amuse myself surfing the web or browsing LiveJournal, Facebook, etc. It's been in pretty much constant use since I brought it - providing plenty of entertainment in the form of Scrubs Seasons 3 through 7, several films and , this evening, the above mention primeval Season 1.
Anyway, and I don't know why I didn;t try this earlier, I decided to pop one of my CDs into the machine (due to the video track it included) and was pleased to discover that the new telly will also play CDs through it's rather good soundsystem :)
So - to christen it properly I've thrown on the all new "Today We Are All Demons" CD from Combichrist. Which, so far, is a cracking CD.
Not much of it at present but we do have snow over here in North London. Enough to have coated all available surfaces outside white.
If the weathermen are correct there'll be plenty more of that overnight so I'm not expecting to see Mike at work tomorrow (as he travels done from Cambridge and I'm sure the roads will be chaos as southern UK doesn't know how to cope with snow).
Still, I love snow and will be more than happy to see a shit load of it when I wake up :)
I'd like to watch the first episode of Being Human
which I've heard a lot of very good things about and which is available on BBC iPlayer
- but I need my computer screen to work on and can't afford an hour out to watch it at present. Maybe something to keep me amused over my lunch break at work tomorrow.
