GIG079: Every New Dead Ghost / Felo De Se - The Dome 25/03/91

Tufnell Park on a Monday night in late March. The milling of black clad figures filing themselves into the downstairs 'venue' of The Dome. It could only really mean one thing.

There was a goth gig on.

Every New Dead Ghost was a Nottingham based band that lasted for a handful of years in the late 80's to about '92. They developed a decent following, released a few things, and were certainly more of the goth-rock side of the scene. I only saw them this one time, in the company of Emily and Jake, and quite enjoyed them. They didn't blow me away - but I'm glad I caught them when I did. The support act, Felo de Se (I'm pretty sure that's what they were called although not totally sure on the spelling) were very, very poor though.

GIG080: 17 Chairs - The Dandy Lion 08/04/91

This was another of The Dandy Lion in Barnets "Student Indie Nights" which was doing really well. I have absolutely zero recollection of 17 Chairs but my notes indicate they were pretty average and unremarkable (which may explain my lack of memory - or the fact that I apparently spent some time at another pub with friends before going to the club might also have aided with this memory loss).

GIG 081: Fields of the Nephilim / Drive - Town & County Club 29/04/91

GIG 081: Fields of the Nephilim / Drive - Town & County Club 29/04/91

This was only the second time I saw Fields of the Nephilim and, as it happened, their last gig. They were touring in support of the brilliant "Elyzium" album which is still one of my alltime favourite albums by any band and I'm pretty sure one of their live DVDs was filmed at this show.

The Neph were absolutely fantastic from the moment the preshow music died and the smoke machines started filling the venue until the last notes and farewells as the shadows on the stage departed. I was in my element and the Fields of the Nephilim rate up there amongst my alltime favourite gigs. I think I actually preferred this one to the time I'd seen them in Brixton (GIG017).

With me that night were a host of friends including Fabio, Roger, Emily, Tim, Gini, etc. Fantastic night and fantastic memories.
