(Advert) Watch and sympathise

Another brilliant advert (this time a real one unlike the VW Polo hoax ad I posted the other day :p). European as well, but has subtitles and to be honest you'd get it even if it didn't.

This is superb. Watch this and then play safe or else!!!!

(Whilst I'm posting, I'm also surprised at how many Suzanne Vega tracks I seem to know. I decided to throw on her greatest hits collection whilst delving into forgotten piles of CDs and there's tons I recognize. Still especially like 'Left of Center', 'Luka' and 'Tom's Doner' although the whole CD is pretty fine :)

Ah, yes the "hoax". The "hoax" that would have cost tens of thousands to film.

Yeah, that's a "hoax" OK.

£40,000 to be precise. There was an article about it in one of the papers earlier this week (it was a tabloid - flicked through it when I was in a cafe getting some breakfast). The same people that did the VW Polo ad apparently did another ad last year which caused a storm - it had a cat having its head cut off in a sun roof. I never saw that one. The makers of the VW were threatening to sue them and the 'sponsors' of the ad who stumped up the cash (who were unnamed).
Should really try and find more info about the story sometime as it'd be interesting to know more.

Note the phraseology those articles use: "threaten to sue". Rule of thumb: people who are going to sue, don't bother threatening. They just send a writ. (Libel for Journalists 101).

I bet VW are delighted with all the press coverage they've had.

Hehehe. I think I've seen this on one of those tv programs where they show ads from all over the world.

Possible drink after work tomorrow?
Jan. 27th, 2005 01:35 am (UTC)

Why not!

Could you drop me a line at work to confirm though? Pretty please? I finish tomorrow at 6pm and am free until about 7.30ish at which point I'm heading off for an Indian with Dave (Allsop) and Sasha (Bilton) plus my ex (Sarah) to say goodbye to Dave before he heads up to the frozen wastes of the North. If you're free you are most welcome to join us for some Eastern Spices.

(Work number is 020 8346 2327 in case you haven't got it with you).

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Wow, I seem to be in esteemed company here...and all I was going to say was some comment about 'Tom's Doner' :) The man obviously likes a kebab?

Anyway, though I didn't make it there thanks to Angus for doing the Dragonmeet thing, many thanks to the Muskrat for many laughs over the years and for signing my stuff a while back. Thanks also to Ozzy for taking a picture of my game a couple of years ago and managing to cut me completely out of frame!

I apologise for my ramblings but that's real ale and the internet for you.

Ah, the joys of surfing the internet, writing emails and doing LJ entries and comments whilst drunk. I remember them well.... well.... er... actually I remember them vaguely or not at all. Which is why alcohol is bad boys and girls. Very bad. Shouldn't touch the stuff..... until at least tomorrow night anyway.

Then I think I may head to Toms Doner - Finchleys premier and finest Kebab Emporium!

Yeah, sorry I mistyped that one earlier :p

Hope to catch you at the next Dragonmeet if you can come down!

It's in QuickTime if that's any help? The actual URL is http://www.uweb.ucsb.edu/%7Echeryl_bk/LittleBoy.mpg which might work if you copy and paste it? If not, then sorry, out of ideas :(
