To all the folks heading to Vegas in March.....

Which hotel are staying in? I'm tempted not to stay at The Riveria and either go for a room on The Strip proper or actually stay at The Orleans again as I quite liked it up there.

So indsutry people - WHERE WILL YOU BE????

I'll be in NYC for 10 days in march, I'm doing a con the weekend after GTS.

So, you won't be at GAMA then?

Nop a slight lack of money and time, plus Ihave hard a few things in the past few years that have basically put me off it. Mainly a lot of small companys don't get any benifit or sales increase from the show. One company gave a fee copy of their book to every shop owner, andhe never got any sales.

Weighing up the costs I can make a bigger impact if the money was spent on advertiseing and mail drops.

Hmmm... I think it's swings and roundabouts. I know some small companies who have benefited from the show but I also am aware of others who haven't. At the end of the day if you have a good product it will always help as it's a direct route to a load of international distributors and (largely American) retailers.

I can't believe a company didn't get a 'single' order from the show though - unless the book 'really' sucked.

Well the game proabaly sucked as I did not have anyhting to do with it ;)

But honestly, at this time it really is not worth us going, however next year we might be on for GTS, then I will have at least 3 books ready and possibly some for another company I'm writing for.

However let m know how it goes and I can see what we can do for 2006.

Laughing Pan will be there, and I know they are flying on the last day to NYC, for the con were helping run. As last year they shifted 5 boxes of books, and we shifted about 6. I hope to do better this year.

If you fancy a few days extra in the US of A come to NYC for he con.

I booked at the Riviera (am sharing with Ann Dupuis). Path of least resistance. The Riviera is pretty far from the Orleans and I don't want to have to drive or rely on cabs or buses.

There are some nicer hotels on the strip that aren't too far away. But I'd rather be able to stumble back to my room drunk go straight to bed once I get tired.

Yeah, staying in the same hotel as the show certainly has some advantages :p
