W00t! It's the weekend again!!!!

Right, Friday night is here and I am wrapping up work and getting ready to go and boogie.

Despite the meagre repsonse to my 'Which club should I go to' Poll earlier today (in which only non-London folk voted inclusing someone living in the US!) I have decided that I'm going with my solitary vote and heading to Club NME at KOKO this evening. Largely because I have an Indy-fix that needs sating, Maggie didn't mind, and one of my sisters might be coming who'd prefer Indy to Metal. Also if Club NME turns out to be a bit sucky I can just wander down the road to Sin City for a Rock/Metal fix instead, and both are easy to get home from :-p

Tomorrow I'll probably be buying an X-Box (thanks to everyone who made comments or voted on that thread) as well as being domesticated and looking at some new toys for the kitchen (Steamers oh my!) and some new bed linen and possibly sleeping bags for the guest room. Not sure what's happening in the evening but my vote is currently staying at home and watching DVDs. Not highly 'rock n roll' I know but Sarah is still out of action because of her foot and I think going out clubbing with Maggies two days on the trot might annoy her slightly despite her telling me she's happy if I go out and party as she has lots of toys to play with at home. Mind you, if there's an X-Box at home by tomorrow night there's a good chance she won't miss me in which case I might hit a club/pub somewhere. Hmm....possibly the Cro Bar again actually.....

Anyway, we'll see.

Working this Sunday (boo hiss!) but am hoping that I will get some time to do a small write up of both the convention up in Edinburgh over Easter, the Nine Inch Nails gig and also announce the winners of my Triffid Teasing task.

Tatty bye folks!

You've picked an interesting time to want to buy an xbox - this being the end of a technology cycle and all (or the beginning of one I suppose). All the major manufacturers are gearing up for the next generation of their consoles and this has a couple implications. The first is that the "xbox next" (codenamed xenon) is due out later this year which means that other than having a huge jump on the competition, new games will only be produced for the current generation of xbox for a year and some months (a year after xenon comes out so I've heard). The other is that although you can pick up an xbox on ebay fairly inexpensively now, when xenon comes out, I suspect that everyone is going to want to get rid of their used xbox's and that you'll be able to pick one up for pennies.

I'm a big fan of the xbox myself (ever since my Halo addiction formed) and that'd be the one I recommend, but if you've got the patience, you might want to wait for the new iteration to come out either for the huge step up in performance that comes with it and continued software support or to nab a cheap xbox on ebay.

Here's a three part article on the xenon from gamespy.com:

Hope this help.

I'm always behind everything. I didn't live in a Playstation household until just before the PS2 came out and my flatmate got a PS1 :p

I don't mind not having the latest console as I don't play "that many" console games and it also means I can pick up any I want fairly cheap.

The machines aren't that expensive in any case and if having one a) keeps people happy and occupied and b) saves me money that I'd otherwise spend down the pub then I figure it's already paid for itself :p

No, no, no, no, no, no - no.

If you have to get a console then get a playstaion. trust me and XBOX is not a goof use of your money !!!!!!!!

Re: No, no, no, no, no, no - no.
The XBox was voted the best machine in the Poll I ran. To be honest I'll probably be picking up both the PS2 and XBox (although not both today :p).
