Printer Advice and Tasks of the Day....

Yay! I have a day off and got up reasonably bright and early!

I have written out a 'List of Things For Angus To Do'(tm) list and am about to embark upon the first task in a few moments. The list currently has nine important tasks on it, although the ninth is probably a bit iffy (buy a new printer) as it's not urgent and I'll probably let that one go for a couple of weeks.

On the subject of printers, does anyone have any suggestions? Laser printer mono/colour? All in one multipurpose job (photocopier/scanner/printer/photo thingy?).

Give me your thoughts (along with any links or prices if you're feeling really helpful!) :p

Anyway, task one....laundry. Followed by sorting out my broadband contract and trying to fix my CD/DVD RW drive.....

I always by HP LaserJet 4's of ebay, you can pick themup for about £40, and they will alst a good few years. The toner for them is around £20, and you can easily get a few thousand prints out of them.

If you want new make sure the laser printer can do at least 6,000 prints per toner, and has a duty cycle aroun 50,000 prints per month. The speed and accesories are subject to how much you want to spend. I do recommend getting a HP Laser Printer becasue you can get good compatable toner cheaply.

For a new printer check out www.insight.com (click ont he UK flag)
For a refurb or used laser printer see e-bay.

I've used Insight a lot ordering stuff for work (including a cheap HP laserjet 1010) so can recommend them. They recently had a new Lexmark Mono for about 70 quid, but I'm suspicious about how the cartridges work. I suspect, but can't find any out and out proof anywhere, you can only order them direct from Lexmark.
