Chav Music.....

Part of me has the growing feeling that SKA is becoming the new music of Chavs.

Why? Well The Streets have certainly got a passing nod towards SKA and The Ordinary Boys definetly fall into that category.

So, is SKA to be tarnished with Chavness?

Debate....

Original Ska was Caribbean chav. Men who had casual work often in the docks wearing boiler suits and heavy, long lasting dock boots, they shaved their heads too. Sound familiar?
Ska (the English one) became popular in the east end and other areas where these people emigrated to. It was a poor working class fashion.
So Ska was always a poor working class music in the UK. Operation Ivy and the like made it popular with US Skaters.
Interestingly the whole non-nazi (or original) Skinhead thing seems to be picking up again too.

What got my goat was someone trying to tell me that Ska was a Mod fashion...
