London's Emergency Services

Just like to congratulate London's Emergency Services 9and those from the Home Counties that were also involved today). Years of experience combined with good planning and terrorist attack exercise training certainly seems to have paid off. From everything I've heard, and seen, the response to this mornings attacks has been enacted pretty much flawlessly.

Much respect to the boys and girls involved.

On another note. Those wishing they could help could probably do worse than to contact their local blood donors about giving blood. I suspect stocks are runnign a bit low on the ground after today.

I second that - do it. Although I have been trying all afternoon and had no luck even getting trough yet...

Apparently it's better to wait a week or two -- everybody'll be going today, and they'll still need more in a few weeks, but of course all those who've already given won't be able to give again.

This maybe a silly question right now but - are you still coming to London tomorrow?

Yeah, I've finally got through and have been told just that. Thanks anyway.

On a separate note, are you still coming to London tomorrow?

As I just told Angus -- if the trains are running then I intend to. :-)

Blood supplys are fine right now. Any blood donated today will not be in the system for a week to allow for strict testing. Any excess will be wasted, its what happened in 9/11.

The best plan is to remember that you need to give blood in the next six months and make sure you go.

I have to agree with your sentiments, the emergency services have done a sterling job especially as the numbers of police officers currently available is so low as they are all up here. Or were.

Last night I was at a pub next to one of the Police stations where they sent officers to help out.
We were there when some of the vans returned, and the pub went silent as they parked up and unloaded, then people were giving them a round of applause.
