As I mentioned in my Fantastic Four post, I've been working on an idea with an Argentian Comic book artist about a school for superheroes kids. The project we've been developing is called Hero Academy and there are a number of really cool ideas involved with it which we had high hopes for on the childrens market. Needless to say when I saw the trailer for a new film called SKY HIGH I was a bit concerned about our project. Just spoke to Juan too as he saw the trailer on-line. We'll have to see the film when it finally comes out but the concept seems pretty similiar which is a shame. But then again, no idea is an original idea anymore. Enjoy the trailer folks....

As I was flicking through trailers anyway I thought I'd also throw you some others. For instance The Brothers Grimm, the new Terry Gilliam film starring Matt Damon and Heath Ledger as the Grimm brothers and also featuring the lovely Monica Bellucci (Brotherhood of the Wolf) as Queen Mirror.

Even The Da Vinci Code got me interested in it. I didn't think much of the book (as anyone who read my review a few weeks ago can attest) but am certainly willing to give the film a go as for once I think the film might actually be better. Just looking at the cast has got me expectations yearning..... mainly because Audrey Tautou (Amelie) is playing Sophie Neveu but also because Tom Hanks (Robert Langdon), Ian McKellen (Sir Leigh Teabing) and Jean Reno (Bezu Fache) are all involved. Trailer doesn't really tell you anything and unfortunately doesn't show any clips but I thought it worth mentioning :p

Antonio Banderas' first outing as Zorro was in 'The Mask of Zorro'. It seems longer ago for me, but apparently this was in 1998. Well he returns with Catherine Zeta-Jones in The Legend of Zorro for more swashbuclkling action in the formulative years of the West Coast of America. Possibly a good 'filler movie' if there's nothing else on that week.........

Finally one for the Penguin lovers amongst you. And I know there are certainly one or two on my friends list. March of the Penguins is a partially commissioned by National Geographic and is really a documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman. It charters the trek of the Emperor Penguins through adverse conditions into lands that hold no other life so they can complete their mating rituals and keep the cycle going. I don't suppose this will get a wide cnema release but might be worth catching one evening when you're feeling a bit more cultured and worldly!!

Jean Reno is going to be perfect as Vache but I'm not sure about the others, tbh.

Considering Audrey Tautou couldn't speak hardly a word of English a few years ago when she starred in Amelie it's quite impressive that she is now starring as someone who has been fluent in English since she could talk!!! I think she'll be good in the role, and Ian McKellen as Teabing. Not so sure about Tom Hanks though (I always viewed Langdon as more of a Harrison Ford figure....)

That's one thing and the other is that she usually doesn't play such "strong" characters.
Teabing is not that old, though, if memory serves correctly.
Hanks is definitely the one I'm least happy with, I don't really like his work (except in the Green Mile). He's got about the right age (how old is Hanks now? Langdon is in his early 40s). Oh well, we'll see.

March of the Penguins was sadly on during the Cambridge Film Festival. Bad timing meant that I was on holiday then.

it's good idea, and...
even if it has been done before, it's not been done before by YOU, so there is still room for it to be an entertaining thingy.

http://archive.gamespy.com/comics/nodwick/ps238/index.htm has been doing it sucessfully for a while though...

Problem is following in the footsteps of something which will be as big as Spy High will be makes you look like a clone or a rip-off. Just look at all of the Harry Potter-wannabes on the market and peoples perception of them!
