Apoptygma Berzerk

I found three new CDs waiting for me when I got home this evening. Ladytron's "Light & Magic", Blutengel's "The Oxidising Angel" and Apoptygma Berzerk's "You And Me Against The World".

Now I listened to the former two earlier this evening and like them both for different reasons. But I'm on the last track of the Apop CD and I want to know if anyone else has listened to this latest offering. Is it me or does it sound REALLY pop and middle of the road? It is really, really tame in comparison of the earlier material I have from them. Have they slowly gone this way over the last few albums or is this one just really commercial?

It's not a bad album par se, it just shocked me as it was not what I was expecting from them. Admittedly I was even more in two minds about it until track 12 came on (it has 13 tracks) which is a cover of an old favourite of mine (The House of Love's "Shine On").

I think I'll stick the CD straight back on to get a better opinion second time round but... eek!

Following the cover version route Blutengel have got a cover of Cry Little Sister (from the Lost Boys film) on their CD. Covers seem to be the in-thing so cudos for Ladytron bucking the trend with completely original tracks on their CD!!!
