Christmas Meal and general tidbits

Christmas Meal
Well, we finally had our works Christmas Meal this evening. It was at a very nice Italian restuarant close to Tally Ho corner in North Finchley. Everyone made it (apart from keyvan who had his Unlce arriving today) and much fun was had. Drank a bit too much wine though - naughty me.

I can honestly say that I really enjoy working and socialising with my collegues. They are a great bunch of people and I hope I remain in touch with them long after they depart into other jobs and leave me slaving away behind them.

Bonus point: Great company; good food.
Minus point: Misplaced my mobile. I think I left it at the restaurant so have to remember to check tomorrow. Damn too much wine ;-p

Postcard from my Sis!

Genevieve (sister #3) sent me and the house a postcard from Austria today. Sounds like she's having much fun. She's gone to Austria (first time out of the country since she was too young to remember!) to work at a ski-resort. I think she's back in about three/four weeks time. It was good to hear from her.

More SLA Artwork!

Clint sent through the remainder of the artwork for Cannibal Sector One and it looks fantastic. Clint (whose work can be seen by the masses in 2000AD on the Slaine strip most recently) has provided us with the front and back covers and seven internal pieces. Alongside Dave's amazing artwork and Grim's fantastic writing Cannibal Sector One is really, really going to kick some butt. I've been gaming for twenty years and I can honestly, and unbiasedly, say that Cannibal Sector One has some of the best artwork that has ever EVER graced a RPG. You'll see what I mean when it hits the shelves and get a sneak peek when the Cubicle 7 website goes live.

Loves Lost & Won

I've been told I should start looking for a girlfriend. I've managed to stay fairly clear of the whole partner malarky for a good 18 months now since Delphine moved back to France. Other people seem more concerned about this than I do. Folks - I'm currently still happy being single and am VERY happy to wait until the right lady for me comes along. This is the longest time I've ever been without a girlfriend since I was probably 17/18 and I'm quite enjoying it. I've also been blessed by some of the most amazing girlfriends anyone could hope for so I reckon I'm due some 'barren' periods to make up for it. I've never "gone on the pull" in my entire life and don't see me starting now. It's just not me. Sooner or later I'll meet someone or be surprised by someone. PEOPLE STOP PANICKING ABOUT ME!!! I should be the one worried about my lovelife not you!

Perdido Street Station

Finished the utterly marvelous Perdido Street Station by China Mieville last night. Absofuckinglutelytastic! This goes straight into the Angus' Top Ten Best Reads of All Time List. Amazing story and I'd reccomend it to anyone who likes alternative fiction with a fantasy/steampunky feel.

Too Much Wine

As stated at the beginning of the post. I'm off to bed now. Goodnight sweet readers!

Re: SLA - You really are just teasing us now. When's the Cubicle7 website gonna go live? I want to see this stuff! ;)

Must get Perdido Street Station at some point. I've heard too many good things about it... maybe I'll pick it up after I finish "Absolution Way" (Alasdair Reynold's latest offering. Damn good scifi).

Perdido Street Station
I'll echo the comment about the scar. Its very well written and interesting as it fleshes out the world and races a lot more.

Re: Perdido Street Station
I actually started the Scar after logging off last night. Only got a couple of pages into it before falling asleep but I blame that on the wine :-P

Will restart from beginning again over the weekend.

Re: Perdido Street Station
Once you've finished The Scar you can add 'probabilty swords' to your list of interests.

Re: Perdido Street Station
Maybe so, but you know you want one.

Bah, I want a boyfriend. It's not fair, grumble grumble etc.

Now I think of it, do you think Bagpuss is really yawning in this picture, or thinking about something rude? He is gay, after all...

My vote goes to 'thinking about something rude'. I'm not elaborating on that though!

It whats going off camera you should worry about.

Perdido Street Station isn't exactly cheery, though. It is exactly as fabulous as Angus says, but I feel that people should be warned about the lack of "feel-good factor". This is most definitely not a "heart-warming tale of romance on the streets of New Crobuzon".

Just so you know.

I loved the ending. Surprised me, but loved it.

I've always enjoyed stories with darker themes and outcomes it must be said. Not saying anymore as I don;t want to give things away to the unintiated ;-p

I'm not panicking about you.

I'm just hoping for sisters. ;)
Apr. 8th, 2004 05:40 am (UTC)
Cryptic. Either that or I'm just plain not understanding you today ;-p

You mentioned people were panicking about you not having a love life. (I'm not BTW). I just hope when you do find the women of your dreams, she has sisters to introduced too ;)

Ten-four love commander. I'm reading you loud and clear.
