The ANGSCARS: Best Film Awards 2005

Following on in time-honoured tradition (well, I did it last year...) this years ANGSCARS Best Film Award is now open for voting!!

The ANGSCARS were founded after a Poll based upon the Oscars Best Film Award that I ran only received FOUR VOTES because many of my Friends list claimed not to have seen the nominated films! In dismay at the uncultured friends I have I ran my own awards ceremony based upon my own Top 5 Films of the previous year which had a much greater success rate. Last year we had a tie in first place between "Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind" and "The Incredibles", with "Lost In Translation" coming in a very close third.

This years Award Nominee's, in alphabetical order, are as follows:

(EDIT: PLEASE ONLY VOTE FOR ONE FILM - I just realised that you can ticky lots of boxes which wasn't what I planned!)

Poll #681955 ANGSCARS Best Film Award 2005

Best Film 2005 AWard

Batman Begins
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory
Sin City
Vanity Fair

So please start casting your votes for your favourite film from those listed above! I'll allow a few days voting before wrapping it up and declaring the winner! I must say this years five are a very good crop so I'll be interested to see the final pecking order!

Well, I've only seen one of them. But as Serenity was godawful, I'll keep my fingers crossed for one of the others! :)

I kind of had to vote "Serenity", as it's the only one I saw all the way through. *shrug* At least I liked it.

I saw all of them, but think that King Kong was better than the lot.

Should i vote for my favorite of the ones shown?

King Kong actually finished #6 on my list last year so just missed out on being on the ballot.

Please vote for your favourite of the films mentioned.

Thanks! :p

Can't believe you've got Batman Begins in there... it wasn't a bad movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it wouldn't make my Top 5 either. :p

I saw 4 of the five.... I liked Serenity the most but thought Sin City was the better movie...

I feel exactly the same :)

Do I vote with my head or my heart?

but there were much much better films than that out! Where's Corpse bride? Howl's Moving Castle? Curse of the were rabbit???

The poll is based upon my own Top Five Films that I saw at the cinema in 2005. I did see's Howl's Moving Castle (it came in 10th in my End of The Year Review http://angusabranson.livejournal.com/2005/12/31/) at the cinema but didn't see the other two you mention.

I got Corpse Bride on DVD but actually thought it was pretty weak as a film and it wouldn't have made my Top 15 let alone Top 5 of last years batch. I have yet to see Curse of the Were Rabbit but intend to pick it up when I get back from the States if I have money left! :p

Have you voted in MY poll? Go, if not!

I haven't seen any of these films in your poll, but what the hell. :)

Tough year. Any of Charlie, Serenity and Sin City could have won in a different year.

Head or Heart
A agree it is tough to decide whether to go with the head or the heart when voting.
I voted for Sin City because I thought it was extremely well made, well directed, well photographed and a brilliant adaptation of the comic. But I have to say I didn't actually enjoy the film any more than I enjoyed the comic - much too depressing and violent for my tastes.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory nearly got my vote. It was very entertaining and well made but not as original as Sin City.
I enjoyed Serenity a lot, but it wasn't as well made as Sin City.
I thought Batman Begins was too slow starting, so that wouldn't get my vote
And I haven't seen Vanity Fair so I can't really comment on it.

Poor... Sreneity is holding up there.
Josh is God.
But Serenity is not as good as Sin City.

Sin City WAS GOOD. It had names, it had green screens coming out the wazzoo, but Serenity had Jane!

And the best comeback of 2005

The Operative: Do you know what your sin is?
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Aw hell, I'm a fan of all seven... but right now, I'm gonna have to go with Wrath.
