Fantasy LARP Film Help...

Hi folks,

It's that time of day again where I put out a call for assistance.

I've been contacted by a small film company who is looking at shooting a low budget horror film later this year. The central plot is that the characters are on a LARP event that goes wrong (and no it is not a 'fantasy gamers are evil' anti-rpg film...).

They are looking for someone who has experience in Fantasy LARP events (from both a player and co-ordinators pov) who can provide some techincal assistance in regards to how the games themselves work and the rules involved as they would like to make the LARP aspect of the film as true to form as possible.

If anyone is interested in helping please drop me a line off-list on angus at cubicle7. freeserve.co.uk and I'll pass you on the contact details.

serpentstar - I mentioned your name as possibly one4 of the best placed people for this so if you are interested please let me know and I'll forward you the info.

They are not looking for extras (I did ask :p) so it's really only some tech help they're after.

EDIT: Just checked out their company website and they have just had one of their latest offerings shown at the Cannes Film Festival!

They may want to lay off getting to tecky as, depending on the system used in the film, if it is overly similer to an actual system used the people who run that system may get a little... egdy.

I did kinda tell them that there were dozens of systems floating around so they should be alright with whatever they do.

I think they just want to get some idea of how the systems run so they can use the technically terms and give it a bit of realism.

...I can't believe I just used the word 'realism' when talking about fantasy LARP portrayal...

And probably things like what a fight looks like etc.

Just tell them that everyone bitches about everyone else behind their back, and that every single player who has been to more than one game knows how to run it better than the orginisers.

THAT'S LARP realism.

Does this mean the film is going to have some bloody awful acting in it like a real LARP?

Errmm.. I think I may count for this.

I used to run Vampire LARP, and did so for about 4 years. I have my own system which was orginally a fantasy system anyway. I know how to meake weapons. I know most of the in's and out's with legallity in some areas. I can also make my own props. I may still have some lying around.

Also I'm going in to film and television porduction so all ready know some of the principles of film making.
