Well done Italy...

Well done Italy.

France definetly had the better second half and extra time but failed to finish Italy off. Thus penalties were taken and the lottery balls rolled.

It's a shame as I felt France should have really won out of the two teams but Italy played very well too and were certainly causing France a lot of problems from set pieces!!!

I have no idea what was said between Zidane and Materazzi. I hope the situation leading up to Zidane's headbutt becomes clear as I can't imagine Zidane would have acted that way unprovoked. Even provoked it was a silly thing to do and a disappointing way to end your footballing career.

I also wonder how much the French Coach was actually involved in the team affairs. Certainly the players seemed to be talking tactics amongst themselves for the most part with Domenech standing away as a spectator.

Oh well, both teams should be happy they made it to the final as at the start of the tournament I wouldn't have put any money on them playing today!

Now we'll have to wait and see what happens in Italian football tomorrow when four of the top clubs face relegation due to match fixing and other naughtiness. Then the sale of the century will start with clubs swooping in to buy up all the players that leave the various sinking ships!

a while ago it was suggested that if italy had won the world cup there might be some amnesty of sorts and the whole thing would be forgotten about. Now, I REALLY hope that's not the case - fucking juvenscum MUST rot in the 3rd division!! (Here's the true turinese coming out - for those who are wondering, the overwhelming majority of people from Turin are Torino fans, not juve - like in Manchester for city and utd) and the other cheats can well go too (dont even know who they are as i dont follow italian football, just know about juve cos all my old mates in turin are in fervent expectation to see them go down and they told me ;-) )

Ufortunately Italy being the banana republic it is (and I can say it cos i was born there, after all, and spent my fair few years there before i managed to escape) I wouldnt be all that surprised if the above actually happened...

PS third time lucky? sorry its the third time i try to post this, i'll put it down to the late hour
