Riding on the Metro...

The trip to France was both fun and (hopefully) profitable. On the Friday I attended Salon du Jeu - a three day French Games and Manga Convention in Paris. Friday is the quietest of the days (and it was quiet although over the weekend they get 20,000+ visitors) so I managed to get round and see everyone and chat to some of the people at length about various bits and pieces as well as catching up with some friends there.

I went out for a Chinese post-Con with the 7th Circle crew and - in typical French meal style - the meal didn't finish until well after 11 (we'd started around 7.30!) so I then caught the Metro back to my hotel near Notre Dame in the centre of Paris. I picked up several new books at the Con including Crimes (a turn of the century game set in Paris), Humanydyne by 7th Circle (a game about a mortal agency tracking superpowered humans) and also the four latest releases in the Postmortem range by Oriflam.

Saturday was my 'day off' as such and I met up with the ever lovely Delphine who travelled up to Paris to meet me for a day of wandering shops, sitting in restaurants and cafe's and chatting away catching up. The morning was largely clothes shops with the afternoon being games shops (you can tell whose preference was were I'm guessing :p). I went fairly light and only picked up three new Cops JDR books which had come out since my last visit. It was really great catching up with Delphine again and hopefully I will be able to persuade her and Alexandre to come over and visit the UK sometime next year. Either way I'll be back in France next year (if not sooner as I've been invited to a New Years Eve party which a number of old French friends I've not seen in years are attending so am sorely tempted by that - plus my innate dislike of staying in the UK for New Years if I can help it!).

The EuroStar was as smooth as always (I love travelling from the centre of Paris to the centre of London by just stepping on a train :p) but the underground and roads once I was bcak in London were completely screwed. I ended up getting off the replacement bus and walking the lst two or three miles home as it was moving about 10 metres every minute or two :(

Sunday was Gameforce which was good fun. Played plenty of games this time round (Ticket to Ride, Ave Ceasar and Munchkin) and chatted to people. Once again we had just over 40 people there so the attendence is staying in good figures :)

Anyway, that's my quick update. I've got to get back to work now (yep - I'm on another late lunch break!). I will try and post again sometime soon (where has my time gone...?) and maybe upload a couple of piccies I took whilst in Paris. Hope everyone had a good weekend and to catch up with folks soon! xx

That's fine. We're cancelling tomorrow anyway as it's too last minute and Dom (for certain) can't make it.

Next Tuesday we kick off though so keep the night free!!!

Have fun at the match if you go and good luck!
