The return of.... "TALISMAN"

Yay! Black Industries have finally announced the return of the Talisman Board Game! OK, so it's not until October 2007 - but it's coming!

Talisman was an old favourite of mine in the 80's and early 90's and the new edition will have all new artwork and from what I've heard is looking really good. I was first told about this (and then sworn to secrecy damn them) back in October so am thrilled that I don't have to keep biting my tongue any longer :)

Here's the Full Press Release (Black Industries website)

I personally think that GW's re-entry into the Board Games market has been partially motivated by the success Fantasy Flight Games have had redoing some of the old GW titles (Warrior Knights and Fury of Dracula). It also means that we might start seeing some older titles return as I'm sure GW/BI won't stop with Talisman. Plus they have a couple of decades worth of ideas floating around which they can plunder or return to.

Yeah :p

You know, a funny thought strikes me, it might be worth Martin getting in contact with them to see if they need any designers ;p

Caloo calay
Now THAT'S good news. There's no WAY my wife will let me buy it. :)

I hope they publish all the expansions. I really hope they do the Timescape(?) one

Re: Caloo calay
I'm not sure if any expansions are planned but if the core game does well (which I think is pretty much a dead cert) then I wouldn't be surprised to see some appear.

I remember back in the late 90's there was a little chat about bringing either Talisman or Space Hulk (probably my favourite GW board game) back out as a part work series. Where you got an additional tile/character every issue with additional rules or scenarios. That didn't go ahead though (well, obviously...) as it wasn't economically viable.

Oh dear.

I've completely failed to collect a complete set of either talisman missing one expansion set for each edition. (Ok I don't have First Edition but there's not much between it and Second).

And now a new one to fail to completely collect is out.

Now if they could reprint Talisman Dragons for Second Edition that would be nice. it being a tad hard to get hold of.

I think its going to be great!

The classic Talisman the Infinitely Expandable.

Although to be fair Heroquest was also Infinitely Expandable but a very different game (it was pretty much RPG-lite and did make an excellent intorudction to RPGing in many ways).

I look forward to seeing the new edition, it will be interesting to see if it has enough merits over the 2nd edition to persuade me.

We generally play with the basic set and 1 expansion (maximum). There was a time long, long ago when we tried to play with all the expansions at once. We gave up after about 9 hours.
