Whilst I'm Looking for Music - Arabic

Today seems to be the day of requests.

Whilst I'm on the subject of music can anyone suggest any bands that blend Arabic/Islamic music or chants in with a blend of Trance or Industrial?

Something with a Middle Eastern flavour?

the only things I can think of are:

Peter Gabriel's Passion - pan african beats

Peter Murphy's Dust - more middle eastern than anything, but good for a listen

but again not really industrial

... I knew I'd forgotten one of them.

fave track is the Shashkin one... as it reminds me of the first time I ever saw Rachel Brice dance.

Oh My GOD!
WHY don't you just come STRAIGHT to me with these requests?! You know I have the answers to all of these questions... you silly silly billy!

Industrial Arabica: Pentaphobe - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Saiyr-Tribal-Metamorphosis-Pentaphobe/dp/B0007CYET4/sr=8-1/qid=1169813717/ref=sr_1_1/202-2497990-5187014?ie=UTF8&s=music - you can get it on Amazon.COM for cheaper... or you could just borrow mine. (tsk!)

ALSO: Maduro - http://www.maduromusic.com/releases.htm - he's on my Myspace friends list so you can listen to his stuff. ALSO "STRANGE FLESH" available through the link.

ALSO An-Ten-Nae - also on Myspace on my FL.

Tim also had a mixed CD he gave me with some stuff with arabic chants and stuff on me - I'm sure he'll give you names of the tracks when he signs in at lunchtime.

I've also got a double CD of Rajna (as recommended by Gothic Beauty Magazine), but from what I've heard of it, it's nearly all drumming.

Have you bumped your head, seriously? I mean, have you met me? Hi, I'm rosie, you're girlfriend, who grew up in the middle east and is a bellydancer who's also into electronica etc. Jeeez. Are you trying to wind me up again!?

Tantra Lounge CDs are ok, but they're less Arabic and more Indian. I can count 3 arabic tracks on there.

It will totally depend on exactly how "authentic" a sound you're after...

Can recommend the track "Village Folk" by Amit. More dark drum and bass than industrial, but pretty close in tone.

Transglobal Underground

An obvious one I know but what about Conjure One? I'm certain there are ethnic samples/devices used in there!

Also Massive Attack's Mezzanine album has a few ethnic devices thrown in there.

Niether of these are specifically Arabic per-se but might prove useful?

There's a Massive Attack track on the Arabesque album.

The Pentaphobe was *specifically made* for Rachel Brice to use at Industrial Clubs...

*head-wall*

'ere! Will you CALM DOWN!

We know it's YOUR LIFE AND EVERYTHING, but some of us aren't as clued up as you are on such issues. Be more patient!

How do you think I feel when I see people making basic engineering mistakes eh? Deep breath, then *educate*.

Right now I have no idea what you're talking about and only feel patronised. So stop it! Maaaaate :)

Perhaps you should do a post all about this as you obviously feel so passionate about it? :D
