(RPG) Scion by White Wolf

Just received a preview copy of Scion: Hero, the new game by White Wolf. I have to admit it looks pretty good.

It's out on general release next week and I think I may try and sneak this copy home and try and have a better read of it over the weekend (heh - like I'll really have the time!).

Find your Destiny

The savage Titans have escaped their eternal prison to wage war with the Gods once more.

Their battles in the Overworld have spilled over to ours.

Armed with abilities and weapons granted by their divine parents, the Scions stand as humanity’s only defense.

Hunter

I was in a game of Hunter for 3 years. While the rule system was pretty broken (hello to many house rules) playing in a system where you were seriously underpowered compared to pretty much everything you went up against made for more interesting and creative playing...

Re: Hunter
I really enjoyed the Hunter game my group played. All the characters were modelled on ourselves which made for some very interesting, and intense, play.

Whilst both Delphine and I loved the game a couple of the other players were unfortunately not so keen on it and we abandoned it after a couple of months of play.

Still, it goes down as one of my favourite mini-campaigns :)

I don't know what to make of this, but I am tempted to pick up a copy and have a look.

Yeah, this has been on my list since White Wolf started promoting it but its going to have to wait a little as I had to spend next week's non-food budget on food last week (complicated financial situation? oh yes).

Hell, I ought to have some birthday money coming up soon, maybe I'll use that.

I've been following the discussion threads on RPGnet, seeing as I have a vested interest in games of modern day mythology ;)

The flavour they seem to be going for is like Gaiman's 'American Gods', with more ass-kicking. So not superheroes, but mortals with superhuman powers rooted in the modern supernatural genre. As someone's said, it's not related to WoD or anything else. System is a lighter version of Exalted 2nd ed, with a hint of Aberrant.

It's a 3-book limited series: Hero, Demigod, God. You start off getting introduced to your powers by your divine parent, and facing titanspawn and other Scions, while the gods are off in the great beyond fighting Titans and stuff. In the second book it sounds like you lose contact with the gods and have to power up and go questing in otherworlds to find them. The final book is presumably a greater power level again, perhaps with the Scions replacing their parents - not many clues yet.
