Goodbye Mr Blair!

OK, a bit early as his conference hasn't taken place yet.

But GOODBYE MR BLAIR!

Glad to see the back of you.

Still, a lot of hard work is needed to get this country back on track. The Thatcher/Blair years haven't been our finest ones.

The Thatcher/Blair years haven't been our finest ones. Balir really wrecked the average, didn't he?

they certainly havent, and what's worse I can't see things improving dramatically any time soon. Much as I want to believe that Brown will be better than Blair he won't be better enough, so to speak - and in fact there might be very little difference.

the tories are not, never were and never will be something even worth considering for a split second in my world, and as for the lib dems, at the risk of pissing people off (including you, probably) the way I see it they are just a bunch of arty farty middle-class middle-of-the-road party; true there are more leftwing than Labour now (not that it takes much!), but I could safely bet that IF they got in they'd end up doing the same things if not worse; it's easy being leftwing when you're in the opposition. Besides, they WON'T get in, as we all know, because of the first past the post system.

So basically there is no alternative...

Lots of nice people have left lots of nice messages on the BBC News Website.

Universally loathed seems to be the consensus.

Back on track? Yeah bring back Callahan, we need an economic crisis, or Heath and send the troops in to Northern Ireland. Maybe Eden and then we could send the troops off to Egpyt instead. No, we need Churchill back, he was so good a home affairs or Chamberlain and his promise from Mr Hitler.

We have such a proud tradition of great leaders anyone of them will do, except for maybe Wilson, who I have a soft spot for and wouldn't wish him the chance to spoil my rose tinted glasses.

Oh yeah I love the idea of a ruling monarchy, cos it's only a couple of letters away from anarchy :)

Pass me the scope rifle; I want to stop the next guy in his tracks before he manages to screw things up any further...

In the US a post like that would earn you a visit from the Secret Service (or maybe FBI... I canna remember which).

I thought replying to a post like that was enough to get a visit from the SS?

The Secret Service is in charghe of the safety and security of The President; oddly enough, they are an arm of the U.S. Treasury Dept.

Besides, MI-5 wouldn't take anything said like this seriously. The very few legal rifle owners in the UK are farmers (who have better things to shoot), the Aristocracy (who are all utterly barmy and will probably end up shooting themselves, like the winner of the Upper Class twit of the Year did) or Target shooters (who have all but died out as a speciesin the UK, and besides moving targets aren't as much fun as stationary paper ones).

The illegal gun owners are too busy shooting each other to be politically motivated enough to shoot the next Prime Minister...

I think Brown will be worse. For a start he completely lacks anything resembling Leader qualities.

Oh completely agreed.

The Tories must be wandering around with big grins on their faces in regards to the next General Election,

They're ones to talk. Cameron isn't much better in that department...

So you're a big John Major fan?

John who?

:p

Major always had the reputation of not really existing here in the UK. He was the sterotypical 'Grey Man' - completely personality-less.

He was also a Thatcherite so falls under the same label.
