We (being Keyvan, Sean and myself) have decided that Sinbad and The Voices of Masada should cover DJ Bobo's "Vampires Are Alive" in their future sets :p

I reckon this would be a good thing. No, honestly.

Anyway, the Eurovision Song Contest is tomorrow night. The British entry will hopefulyl die a horrible horrible death and be humiliated (it's god awful).

Swizterlands DJ Bobo (which was heavily tipped to win) didn't make it through the Semi-Final stage last night. Actually a number of the favourites from the semi-finals failed to make it through with all 10 remianing slots going to Eastern European Entries. Many people are talking about block voting between Eastern nations but to be honest they also have some of the better songs (look at Bulgaria which is my favourite track this year -  Water by Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankoulov - who qualified through the Semis :p).

It'll be an interesting night tomorrow. I reckon the winner will be from eastern Europe. Possibly Ukraine as they have a popular entry.

I'm crossing my fingers for Bulgaria though.

I plan on spending tomorrow night repeatedly saying 'They cancelled Doctor Who for this?'

Until someone shoots me.

Ir would be perfect for someone like Blutengel. Actually, no, it would only be marginally better...

The sad thing is there are a number of EBM bands which sound similiar to the Eurovision pap we get.

I have been utterly dismayed with some of the bands on the 'scene' today. I don't know if Apocotyma Berserk have improved any (I used to like them in the 90's) but I picked up one of their recent CDs a year or two ago and it was one of the worst albums I'd ever listened too :(

I want Turkey to win because I drew them in the office sweepstake. The guy who organised it is a mad Eurovision fan so if you notice a Scottish flag and a bald head three rows from the front of the audience in the middle, that's Gordon.

I totally agree, the British entry is complete and utter rubbish. Twee cutesy trash.

My personal favourite last night was Slovenia (in the leather ballgown) -- fashion sense or not, she had the most incredible voice. I liked Bulgaria too, though, and there were a lot of good Eastern European entries.

Uh-huh. Because it isn't as though the Scandihoovian countries don't block vote.

Discussion on an LJ community a couple of years ago:
A friend: 'Does anyone know where I can get fuel for my fondue pot?'
Someone: 'Oh, you're having a Eurovision party!'

As always, I will root for Romania, but any Eastern European country will do. Fact is, this sort of thing means soooo much more to any of these countries than it does to the westerns, and it's nice to see them get a little bit showcased (cf. the Latvian win).

*Mutters loudly under her breath about Vampires Are Alive being brilliant Eurovision fare and being quite disapointed that its not going to be on for her to drink too*
